Unlikely Style Icon: Miss Piggy

Fun fact: When I was 8, I got a phone call from Miss Piggy to wish me a happy birthday. I was going to see Muppets Treasure Island at the cinema with my school friends so it was only appropriate that she phone me to wish me many happy returns. True story.

Ok, so Miss Piggy is everywhere right now. She is the epitome of an unlikely style icon. On the cover of Sunday Times Style in Jason Wu, covering the Baftas in Louis Vuitton, collaborating with OPI and MAC for her own line of cosmetics, having little known reality TV stars make her outfits on Project Runway...

Ok, so that last one was hardly a highlight in her sartorial swiney life but you can't deny it, Miss Piggy is phenomenally successful right now.

So, with all that in mind, you might think she's not really an unlikely style icon until you really sit down and think about it. This is a pig we are talking about. Wait, scrap that. This is a pig puppet we are talking about. A felt pig puppet with some burly puppeteer's hand in her nether regions. Doesn't sound quite so stylish now, right?

To get Miss Piggy's look, remember one simple rule: More is more! Miss Piggy is the epitome of excess. Sequins, faux fur, glitter, the lot! Don't forget a healthy splash of pink in with the mix!
