Friday

FF XXI

Only one more Friday until Halloween! How excited are we? I am superdy duper excited! Next Friday, I promise an entirely-Halloween themed FF!

Though, saying that, I can't resist starting a little early.

Look at this amazing skeleton hand belt DIY from Bashful Owl at Lark and Lace. Seriously, this is the most gorgeous thing!

I've become a little obsessed with the thoughts of Yankee Candles this week. I've bought a sampler of Sparkling Cinnamon to test the waters before getting a housewarmer jar in time for December. I haven't even taken the cellophane off it yet but the scent emanating from it is gorgeous! I'm definitely buying a large jar come payday, and probably a set of Christmas samplers too.

This week, I end on a more serious note. I'm sure most of you have heard the story of Malala Yousafzai, the 14 year old Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for her girls' education and women's rights activism.

This is an issue very close to my hear. The children I teach are almost all Pakistani. Specifically, half of my class are Pakistani girls so I know exactly how important it is for all children to be educated, regardless of their gender, nationality, culture or religion. Gordon Brown has launched a campaign with the slogan I Am Malala, which aims for every child to be in education by 2015. I urge everybody to sign it before November, when it will be presented to the president of Pakistan.

  1. This belt is absolutely amazing!! I need it in my life.
I'm getting super excited for Halloween, I just wish it would come around faster!
I heard about Malala but re-reading it here literally gave me goosebumps, it's horrendous that things like this still happen in the modern day.
I will definitely be signing 'I Am Malala'.

  2. That belt is amazing!
And clearly the Yankee candle co needs to come out with a latke scented candle... equality! No, I WISH channukah smelled like Christmas. It's vanilla and cinnamon and peppermint all up in my house, thankyouverymuch.

  4. What a fun belt, especially for October. I've seen skeleton hands as hair bows, but never as a belt. Cute!

As for the campaign, I haven't heard of it until now. But I will definitely keep myself updated on an issue like this.
