Natural History Museum

You know me, I love dinosaurs. So I was in my element last week when I visited the Natural History Museum in London. Who doesn't want to see a life-size animatronic T-rex?

Pretty reflections in water.

How amazing is this huge display of little taxidermy birds?

The globe is one of the best parts of the Natural History Museum. I took far too many photos of it!

Can you spot the fossil?

Cute gemstones in the gift shop. The marble egg is pretty cool.

Pretty rose quartz.

Have you been to the Natural History Museum before? What was your favourite part?

    1. I like the science museum too, but I much prefer this one. The V&A is opposite and that's great too.

  4. I haven't been to the Natural History Museum in years, mostly due to the distance these days, but I've always loved it! Your photos make me really urge to go back. The taxidermies and dinosaur skeletons in the Museum of Manchester are wonderful, but can't really compete with the size of the exhibitions in London. Beautiful photos! :)

And in answer to your question, my favourite bit was the dodos, and the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition that's there every year if you ever get the chance to catch it.

  6. Nope I have never been to the natural history museum but I really want to and will make sure that I go next year when I'll have more time to spend in London, cause so far I was there for a really small period of time and they are so many things to see and never enough time ! But oh well soon ;)

  7. I think I've spent in total an entire day in there, but it was a few years ago so I can't exactly remember my favourite thing in there. But I do distinctly remember all of what you photographed, like that escalator. I liked looking at all the taxidermies and thinking that there used to be flesh and blood inside the skins. And wondering whether the eyeballs are real.

    1. I'm not sure if you found out about the eyeballs in the end, but with taxidermy they're made from beads. The skin is taken off around the eyelids so the eyeballs stay on the carcass.

    2. Now it is so obvious that they were beads, but back then it was a genuine conundrum!
