Hen Do in London: The London Dungeon and Bill's Covent Garden

Earlier this week, I headed into London with my two gorgeous best friends Marie and Leona. We'd booked a room at the Waterloo Travelodge, which was just 5 minutes away from the station and meant we could walk practically everywhere we needed to be. Perfect!

On arrival, the woman on reception asked the nature of my stay. I blurted out "It's my hen do!", then instantly regretted it, thinking she would anticipate raucous gangs of girls and L-plates. Actually, I had the complete opposite reaction: We were given a complimentary bottle of wine! How exciting!

Our room had a view of The Shard... erm, kind of! We spent a great couple of hours chilling out in our (very warm) room, singing along to emo tunes, taking selfies and, of course, bouncing on the bed!

That evening, we got dressed up to go partying and ended up in Heaven. The second room was pretty much our ideal party location, playing songs from musicals, Disney films and cheesy 80s and 90s classics. There was also some truly terrible karaoke, and I wish we'd got up and joined in!
Marie and Leona are the best girls to party with! Neither of us really drink, so there's none of the annoyance that comes with looking after drunk people! We could just drink our Diet Cokes, party away and let our hair down, without worrying about keeping each other safe.
The two above photos are from Leona's post about the weekend. After partying our socks off, dancing with some of the other attendees and somehow managing to be chatted up by a man in a gay club, we walked back to our hotel, stopping off at Subway (and a kebab van for Leona), on the way.
After a very sweaty night (I told you that room was hot!), Marie and I headed off to The London Dungeon. Leona's a wimp, so she stayed in bed and had a nap while we went to get scared.
Marie is the Queen of the London Eye! Bow down, peasants!

Honestly, I was terrified about visiting The London Dungeon. I might be into creepy things like cemeteries and death but I'm a real wimp. I can't watch horror films, and I cried from fear on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride... when I was 22.
We couldn't take photos inside the tour, but it was fantastic! My fears were totally unfounded. Of course, there were scary parts- The Sweeney Todd room made me cry and giggle simultaneously, not helped by the sounds of scissors snipping in my ears!- but it was a good kind of scary.
The actors were all very good (I especially liked the deceivingly aggressive Mrs Lovett), and Marie and I were both selected to take part in the audience participation segments. I was the pirate Blackbeard in disguise, on trial in an 18th century courtroom. Hilariously enough, the magistrate demanded to see my booty and encouraged everyone in the room to chant "Booty! Booty! Booty!"
In the gift shop, Marie and I both bought little hearses that reminded us of Revenge-era My Chemical Romance. The London Dungeon was so much fun and I fully recommend it to anyone visiting London. Don't worry about being scared- I promise it's not as scary as you think it will be! I'll definitely be going back again, and probably visiting the other ones too!

After all that excitement, we picked up Leona and headed to Bill's Covent Garden. It seemed like a really quick walk but the directions were a little complicated, so it ended up taking us about 50 minutes. Sorry, girls!
The upside of the trek around Westminster was that the pink lemonade when we arrived tasted so good!
We were very much looking forward to our afternoon tea. Although I switched my tea for apple juice as I don't drink hot drinks, Marie and Leona both had the English breakfast tea.
The finger sandwiches were egg and cress, cucumber, ham and tomato, and salmon. They were surprisingly filling, but we still had more to come!
Leona grew up in Cornwall but has lived in Devon for several years, so she's the ideal person to ask about the jam/cream debate. She assured us that jam first is the way to go. Apparently it's scientifically proven too!
