SS Great Britain

When Rich and I stayed in Bristol, we had a look online to see what we could get up to. When I heard about the SS Great Britain, it was pretty apparent that we'd have to pay a visit.

First, we stopped off in the cafe and I had the most delicious lemon meringue muffin. Yum yum!

First, we had a look around the dry dock. It's really interesting to see the damage to the hull, where there are huge gaping holes from rust.

Next, we headed into the dockyard museum and found the fancy dress! Yay!

Then we headed up to the deck, which has a beautiful view of Bristol.

Beep beep! Look out, Bristol!
It started to rain a little, so we headed for shelter down below decks.
It was really interesting to see how the passengers would have lived, especially in steerage. The sleeping quarters were small, dark and claustrophobic. I can only imagine how dirty and smelly it must have been with people living there!

Although we only had an hour or so to explore the ship before closing time, it was a really interesting glimpse into Bristol's maritime history.
