My flaws

Let's face it- Nobody's perfect. We all have flaws and imperfections and today I'm going to talk about mine. Not my physical flaws, mind you. Those are not only subjective, but also pretty obvious if you look at photos of me (Hello, chubby thighs!). Instead, I'm going to be brutally honest and discuss the flaws in my personality.

I'm lazy
Oh my word, I am the laziest person in the world. Rich has so much patience and I don't know how he lives with me. He will fetch me anything I need, he will make my dinner, he will even pour my drinks for me. I'd be nowhere without that man!

I'm dependent
On a similar note, I rely on Rich way too much. I can be clingy and I don't like spending too much time without him. Even if we're both home, I prefer him to be in the same room as me, even when I'm having a bath.

I'm stubborn and melodramatic
...and I quote Taking Back Sunday songs in blog posts. Seriously though, I am ridiculously stubborn and I do tend to be a bit sulky and melodramatic if I can't get my own way... which means I normally get my own way.

I'm messy
By messy, I don't mean dirty. I'm not unclean. I'm just a bit cluttered. If I get something out of the cupboard, I probably won't put it back. When I undress at the end of the day, I tend to leave my clothes on the floor. If I'm reading a magazine in the bath, I'll leave it on the laundry bin.

I shop too much
My messiness is not helped by the fact that I own far too much stuff. If I want something, I will buy it. Phrenology heads, stuffed alpacas, lamps shaped like dinosaurs... I just have so much clutter and nowhere to store it, yet I keep buying more.

Don't get the wrong idea: I'm not proud of my flaws. This post isn't a boast. It's just an admission. Blogs tend to only promote the best of a person and I feel like I need to show you that I'm not always the way I appear online. Like everyone, I have both good and bad qualities and I would love to hear what yours are!

  1. Chubby thighs are not a flaw... Think twice when you say something like that, you're not the only person with chubby thighs who reads your blog, and saying that is kind of hurtful, even as a "joke".

    1. That's a fair comment. I would never criticise somebody else's body but, as I'm sure you know, everybody has body hang ups. For me they are my chubby thighs. I'm sorry if you found it hurtful, but that is how I feel about my own body and bears no relation to how I feel about others'.

    2. Okay, I understand you now, but when someone is reading that it feels that you don't think that way only about your own thighs but about every chubby thighs. Anyway, I just want to encourage you to love your chubby thighs and to post outfit photos showing them if you feel like it, because I'm sure I'm not the only one of your readers who thinks that you and your thighs are just perfect.

    3. It's Becky's blog and it's her body hangup and she can criticize it if she wants, regardless of how someone else feels. She's not issuing a doctrine against chubby thighs and saying that it's bad

  2. Great post! Nice to see a truly honest different view of a person for a change!
My flaws would be that I'm too quick to temper - I rant very easily and have thrown my phone at my bedroom wall on more than one occasion! - and I worry.

    All. The. Time.

  3. This was such a lovely read Becky, it's nice when bloggers show us their positives but it's nice to know they're human too. I am the exact same with my laziness and messiness, I can never see half my bedroom floor for clothes and always leave my makeup everywhere xx

  6. Loved reading this post Becky :) I mean, I love seeing all the positives about a person and the lovely parts are inspiring, but knowing the negatives too can really humanise someone. I feel I know you a little better now, and its lovely reminding us others have flaws too! :) Personally my biggest flaw is my temper. It's quick and red hot, haha.
    Fantastic post, as always.

  8. It really is neat to see what people think are their biggest flaws. There's something beautiful about realizing that nobody's perfect, no matter how they come across on TV, in a blog, etc. - there's a real person under there! I might do this post over on samsamcherie at some point...such a wonderful idea!

  10. This is an awesome post!! I'm sure I wrote something similar a while back! It's a good way of getting to know people :) I'm quite annoying about cleaning up and being responsible, maybe so much so it's a flaw. It seems to annoy other people sometimes! I'm also very cynical and don't trust people easily, this also bothers my friends! I have so many flaws I could go on forever... I'll save it for a blog post ;) xo

  11. This is a really honest post, and I'm quite glad for it. It's easy to forget that bloggers are real people since we only see the best of them online. Thanks Becky :D

  12. I don't think you can be proud or not proud of flaws. It's just being you and you are the way you are, like all of us :)
