Review: MAC lipstick in Pink Plaid

This was one of three MAC lipsticks I bought in America. Over there, they're only $16, which is less than £10. Bargain! Rather predictably, all three were shades of pink and I'm going to start with Pink Plaid.

In the tube, Pink Plaid is a dusky rose shade, a bit lighter than it appears in these photos. On application, it has a more beige tone with a matte finish. It's actually quite similar to my natural lip colour, so it has a natural look when I apply it, just a little paler. It has a very opaque finish, which means it only takes one application to achieve highly pigmented colour.

I'm a fan of matte lipsticks as they tend to last longer than lustres. However, I have found that Pink Plaid wears away fairly quickly. As it's such a natural shade, it's a subtle fade so it's not too bad, but I do prefer my lipsticks to last longer. Of course, the one problem with matte lipsticks is that they tend to cling to dry skin, as you can see in the photo below.
Although I do like the shade, I don't think it's spectacular enough to become a favourite. It will be great for a natural daytime look, although I'll be sure to reapply frequently.

  1. I love that you wear the lipstick when you review it. I do find swatches difficult to imagine on my own face. Thank you, Leah x

  2. This is such a pretty shade, it's a shame the formula isn't very long lasting! I think I am going to get a nude MAC lipstick but I'll steer clear of this one :)

  5. This actually looks much nicer on, it looks rather barbie-esque in the bullet. Shame it didn't last long though, especially with MAC not being the cheapest!

  7. I've always wanted to try Pink Plaid but I would have expected much better from Mac! I love the matte finishes and 3 of my 5 Mac lipsticks are matte, but they all wear pretty well x
