Nails // Essie Delicacy and almond shape
For a long time now, I've been hankering over beautiful pointed stiletto or almond nails. Initially I intended to get some done for the week leading up to Halloween in glossy black, but then Laura booked her wedding for 30th October and wasn't too keen on the witchy talons idea for her maid of honour. Can't think why. With this plan, I was going to get them filed down to a more appropriate shape before returning to work. When it didn't work out, I decided I'd get my stiletto nails in the summer holidays... but then I thought, why wait? I don't tend to poke children in the face much (I did accidentally fish hook one once but that's a story for another day!) so I figured I'd just go for it.
Most of the length is actually real nail under the acrylic. It's just the couple of millimetres at the very tip that are pure acrylic. I never thought I'd have nails this long! The shape is everything I've ever wanted. Whether you call it stiletto or almond (Google seems confused about this), I think they look elegant and graceful but also really bloody fierce.
I'd planned to have them painted a peachy nude but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Instead I settled on this, Essie Delicacy. It's a very subtle pink, almost transparent even after two coats, but has the most gorgeous iridescent shimmer. Unfortunately this sheer aspect does mean it shows up all the little imperfections but it's still super pretty.
My new nail shape is everything I wanted. I absolutely adore it and will definitely be keeping it for a while!
