101 in 1001 XXVII

Wow, April has been a good month for achieving my goals! I should quit work more often...

#19 Visit Oxford
Oxford Architecture
Helen and I visited Oxford but it wasn't quite what we were expecting!

#22 Visit Salzburg
View of Salzburg from Hohensalzburg
This month I discovered that I belong in Salzburg and I'm already looking into return trips. I've never felt so happy and at home in a city before, not even my beloved London!

#51 Visit 10 new-to-me cemeteries (5/10)
Mary and Jesus Grave Painting
Oooh halfway there! I visited Petersfriedhof in Salzburg which was the inspiration for the cemetery scene in The Sound of Music and absolutely beautiful. I also visited the Kaisergruft in Vienna which is more of a crypt than a cemetery, but dead people are housed there so it still counts. I really wanted to visit Zentralfriedhof in Vienna (the 9th largest cemetery in the world) and the neighbouring Funeral Museum but we didn't have much time and it was a long way out of the city centre. I learned the German words for cemetery and funeral though so that's something!

#58 Visit London Transport Museum

I'm not entirely sure why I put this as a separate goal when I also have "visit 10 new-to-me museums". I guess I was running out of ideas! I visited London Transport Museum and it was interesting but would have been better without all the screaming children.

#61 See 5 shows (5/5)
Green Day's American Idiot Musical Play Review
Completed and we're only a third of the way through! I went to see American Idiot in Manchester (which also means I can add #17- Visit my brother in Manchester to the list again but I'm bored of including that every month and don't have a photo to use) and The Play That Goes Wrong, which was the funniest thing I have ever seen!

#90 Read 125 books (51/125)
Pile of books
It's going well! At this rate, I should be halfway through at the end of June which puts me a good 6 weeks ahead of schedule!

#96 Visit 10 new-to-me museums (6/10)
Vienna Natural History Museum map
Other than the London Transport Museum, I also visited the Natural History Museum in Vienna which truly puts the London one to shame!

I think this might have been the best month in my whole 4 years of blogging!

    1. Not 51 books this year, unfortunately! These 1001 days started last April so it's more like 51 in 12 months. I think I'm up to 20 books so far this year which is still pretty good!
