OOTD // White Lace Dress

I know fluted sleeves are everywhere right now but I love them so much! I've got a lot of tops and dresses with these sleeves to take photos of so you better at least pretend you're also into them for the time being! This gorgeous white lace dress is from Simply Be and I've pretty much been wearing it everywhere for the past few weeks.

These particular photos were taken in Islington on an ill-fated day where I planned a whole load of things to do, then ended up staying in Kipferl far too long and not leaving until everything had closed. The bright day threw me off and made me think it was earlier than it was! Instead, I spent a million hours trying to get these photos just right, much to poor Rich's annoyance as I bossed him about. Sorry Rich!
Simply Be White Lace Dress
For some reason, this dress has got poor reviews on the Simply Be site, which is a real shame as I've found it perfect. Perhaps it is a little short but since I wore it with my trusty black opaque tights, there was no danger of me flashing my pants. I also found, contrary to the reviews, that it fit fairly well around my chest- something that I often struggle with! The high neckline took a little getting used to since it's not a style I've really worn before, but once I'd been wearing the dress a few minutes, I stopped noticing it. In fact, the only problem I have had is that one of the black frills at the shoulder is sewn on upside down, so the two point in different directions. It slightly annoys me, but not enough to go through the rigmarole of exchanging it.
White lace fluted sleeves
I love all the little details, like the delicate floral lace pattern, the ribbon bow, and the black frill around the neck. There's also something I really love about the combination of a cropped sleeve and flared fit, but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. It just pleases me.

Because I was planning to be walking around a lot, I wore my comfiest ankle boots. Poor things are starting to look a little bedraggled now, and one of them has a huge, mysterious stain on top. It looks as though somebody has dropped a whole drink on top of it. No idea what caused it but it's not too obvious so I'm holding onto them for the time being.

Get yourselves ready for a whole load of flared sleeves outfit posts coming up shortly. If I can convince Hayley to take some photos for me, one of them will be coming to you from Riga. Exciting!

  3. Such a pretty dress!
Though I always stay away from buying white as I have no faith in my ability to keep it white for long!

  4. What a pretty dress! The flower detail is gorgeous. It's interesting that you're happy with it considering that the reviews were bad. It shows that it really is different for each person and a dress doesn't fit two people the same. I tend to avoid shopping online for that reason. Anyways these photos are lovely and you picked up a really lovely dress!
