OOTD // White Crochet Dress

All the way back in June, I went to Salzburg for my birthday (because where else would I go?). I took OOTD photos every single day, but as soon as I got back to England, I got thrown into this big ol' ball of stress and didn't get the chance to post them. So now, as we approach Christmas, I'm going to start sharing all my cute summer outfits. Sorry not sorry.

My white fluted sleeve dress was one of my absolute favourites over summer. It's really light (although the thin material does make it a little exposing!) and the fluted sleeves keep my arms cool, as well as having the added bonus of being fun to swish about. With crochet detail at the waist, elbow and wrist, it gives a little seventies-esque touch which I'm totally into.

It was a little chilly this day, hence the reason I'm wearing leggings. I know there's a little group out there who moan about me wearing leggings all the time but sorry, I wasn't about to strip off in the shadow of the Cathedral just for the sake of having my photos look a little more polished.

When I first went to Salzburg, I was proper into visiting all the Sound of Music film locations. Although now my general love for the city has far surpassed the excitement of being in the setting I grew up with on screen, there were still a couple of locations I wanted to visit. One was the Do-Re-Mi meadow (which I've passed on the train but not yet been to) and the other was the Felsenreitschule, or Summer Riding School- the theatre where the Von Trapp family perform before fleeing the Nazis. Finally, I made the time to visit and it was a very exciting moment.

Felsenreitschule Salzburg

Visits to the Felsenreitschule are only possible on a guided tour that includes all three festival halls. It's free with the Salzburg Card (seriously, get one) and lasts about an hour. Because it's a combined German and English tour, there is quite a bit of hanging around waiting for the German part to end and, understandably, these are much longer than the English bits, but our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Like many Salzburg residents, he'd never seen The Sound of Music but he'd picked up bits and pieces from eager fans, and thought the inconsistencies were hilarious (Fun fact: The Von Trapps flee over the Untersberg... which takes them straight into Germany. Smart move!)

Summer Riding School Salzburg

After seeing the Großes Festspielhaus and Haus für Mozart halls, we moved onto the Felsenreitschule and it's every bit as magnificent as it looks on screen. The back wall is carved right into the mountain which looks incredible but unfortunately means there is no backstage storage. Because of this, all the equipment for the upcoming Salzburg Festival was stored onstage, but we were still allowed to get up and have a wander around.

Salzburg Cafe
Once the tour was over, Rich and I stopped off in this cute little cafe nearby where a lady was sat down in a pink gingham dirndl. I'm not sure if she deliberately matched her outfit to the tablecloth but I'd like to think she did. If only because that's totally the sort of thing I would do! I swear, every angle in Salzburg is so photogenic. It's a blogger's paradise!

  2. This is a lovely post, I like the mix between fashion and travel! I really want to see Salzburg one day, I remember older posts you've done about it and it seems like a great destination for a little getaway. Your dress is lovely, and you could totally wear it even now with a jumper on top!
