Review: Lush Aqua Marina and Let The Good Times Roll

Way back in July, I attended the Summer Skin event and was very kindly provided with a whole bunch of samples to try out. I'm gradually working my way through them and I fully intend to review everything, starting with the cleansers.

Aqua Marina
I was so excited to try Aqua Marina as I fell in love with the fragrance. It has a very strong salty, seaweed scent of the ocean, so I'd imagine it's quite polarising, but I adore it. The scent comes from the inclusion of seaweed and sea salt, which soften and exfoliate the skin. Just don't do what I did and apply it to broken skin: Salt in a wound is not a pleasant experience!

To apply the cleanser, gradually add water and rub together to create a milky paste which can be smoothed onto the skin, then rinse off with warm water. Afterwards, my skin did feel very soft and smooth, but it didn't feel particularly cleansed.

Let the Good Times Roll

Let the Good Times Roll is one of those products that everybody talks about so I was looking forward to trying it out. Let's start by stating the obvious: The smell is incredible! A gorgeous scent of warm, buttery popcorn. Like Aqua Marina, it acts as an exfoliant, although with this cleanser it's due to polenta and maize flower. My skin felt so soft and smooth afterwards.

The only thing that really annoys me about these cleansers is the way you have to prepare them. The smushing approach is really messy and it gets all under my nails. I much prefer a cleanser that you can just open up and slap on.

  1. Aqua Marina is definitely has a love it or hate it scent! When I first sniffed it I was reminded of harbours and those little stalls that sell cockles, but it slowly grew on me. I agree on the potted cleansers being a bit of a pain to use. Have you tried Fresh Farmacy? It's pretty much a facial soap and just lathers up in your hands. Much easier than making a paste!

    1. It made me think of harbours too, and that's what I love about it! I'll check out Fresh Farmacy. Thanks for the recommendation!

  2. I guess they weren't joking about the whole rubbing salt in the wounds then ;)

I'm quite the skin care fanatic, but I like it to be easy, I don't really feel like I want to prepare the product myself

  3. I'd love to try these, but I feel like they are a bit too expensive for not being very good at actually cleansing the skin! I'm a such as Lush fan, but this is one product I haven't been able to justify buying.

  5. I really like Aqua Marina, I've got through several pots of that one and like that it helps to calm my redness. I haven't tried Let the good times roll but obviously I'd love to, it smells amazing! I do agree with you though they are a little messy to use. I also try and make sure I don't get any water in the tub while I'm using it as that can encourage a few furry extras to start growing on it! x
