Review: Stargazer White Make Up

With Halloween fast approaching, I've ordered some make up to create my Halloween looks. Stargazer was a staple of my emo days. I think they've built quite the reputation as the go-to for gothic, alternative products, so it made sense that I would turn to them.

I was really impressed with the white foundation. To be honest, I was expecting it to be thick and cakey, just like face paint but labelled foundation. In fact, it was a light consistency and applied easily. It had an odd applicator- Like those glue applicators used in primary schools. I just dabbed it on my face and then used a foundation brush to apply it. Unfortunately, it applies unevenly and it's very difficult to blend nicely. It lasts a long time, though and it's easy to build up.

The powder comes with a little applicator which is better than I thought it would be. It picks up quite a lot of product and applies evenly. It's a little difficult to build up as it pretty much stays at the same appearance with each layer but at least it applies a lot at once. (Let's face it, you're probably only going to be using this if you want a really dramatic look!) Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long, especially when there's moisture in the air.

I struggled to apply the eyeliner in a way that would show up. Admittedly, this is because my whole face was already white! I found that, on application, it tended to rub off the layers below which was a little frustrating. It also smudges very easily. Not the best product I've ever used, but it's hardly expensive so not a great loss.

Overall, they're not bad products for fancy dress purposes. I'm not sure I'd use them if I wanted a high quality dramatic look but for a costume, they work perfectly.
