So, after our trip to Winchester Cathedral, we continued on to the purpose of our visit- Winchester Christmas Market. I visit every year and I love it, but we left it until the last day this year. Nothing like last minute festivities!
The market takes place in the Cathedral grounds. It's absolutely beautiful but it was very busy, so difficult to take a photo to do it justice.
I buy a bunch of stuff from this stall every year. It's the first stall you pass and the smell of cinnamon and citrus hits you before you turn the corner into the market. That's the real smell of Christmas for me!
There's always loads of lovely, pretty Christmas decorations like these wooden stars.
I couldn't resist this pretty holly wreath. I'm going to hang it above our bed during the festive season.
More wreaths! This time lavender ones which, lovely as they are, aren't exactly very festive!
Real mistletoe everywhere you look. Isn't it supposed to be poisonous or something? What's romantic about that?
Toasted marshmallows. Yum yum yum!
This is my crazy marshmallow face.
Pretty felt birds. They're very cute!
Look! A real donkey!
Candyfloss bigger than my head!
We also went to the Royal Oak for a roast dinner. It was where we had our first date, way back in 2008!
I can't decide if this is a quirky idea for a lamp or if someone moved the shade and nobody's noticed.
I love any sort of Christmas music!
Look at this lovely watercolour sofa!
The Winchester Waterstones is my sort of place! So much Murakami! I may have walked out with a couple.
I love the quote on the bag.
On the way back, we stopped off in Shakeaway. I know milkshakes aren't very festive but I compensated for that by choosing a Terry's Chocolate Orange flavour. It was absolutely delicious!
Oh Beckkyyyy stop making me regret changing Winchester from my first choice uni :( It all looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteOops, sorry! I have to admit that I loved going to uni there!
DeleteThat market looks lovely - I've been to a few Christmas markets in the South but haven't been to Winchester yet! Will have to give it a go next year :) Those marshmallows look yummy! x
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely try Winchester. It's small but lovely!
DeleteEverything looks so pretty! And also good choice on the milkshake front, Terry's chocolate orange is my fave! X

I love chocolate orange flavours! Yum!
DeleteNice photos, but I feel sorry for that donkey... He seems to be so sad :(
ReplyDeleteHe does look sad in the photo but he looked a lot happier in real life. His ears were waggling!
DeleteGreat photos, I hope you picked up some roasted chestnuts :o). Xx
ReplyDeleteMakeup by Candlelight
I didn't- I don't like them!
DeleteLovely photos :) I'm always worried about taking pictures when I'm out and about as I get quite embarrassed :')

Aaw, you shouldn't be embarrassed. Just go for it! Those people will never see you again, so who cares what they think?
DeleteThis looks like a lovely market. I'm going to be talking about a one I visited in York soon. It had the same cinnamon and citrus ornaments and I was going to buy one, but my Aunty saw the woman who looked after the stall spray all of the things with what she presumed was the smell so we didn't bother.
