Sleeves: c/o Wingz
I have a bit of a thing about my upper arms. They never really bothered me until a couple of years ago when I saw a photo of me from the side and suddenly noticed my arms looked like turkey legs. It doesn't bother me too much, and I still wear plenty of sleeveless tops and dresses (examples here, here and here) but I definitely feel more confident with my arms covered.
Then, of course, there's the winter. Even though it's cold, I still want to wear my pretty dresses but don't really fancy getting hypothermia. What I usually do is wear a long sleeved top under my dresses but it tends to look a little odd with two necklines.
Luckily for me, there's a solution that fixes both of these problems. Wingz are sleeves that cover your arms but discreetly tuck under your bra so there's none of that double neckline effect. Instead, it just looks like a feature of your dress. These were actually featured on Dragons' Den and I remember telling Rich what a great idea they were and how I would definitely use them!
I was a little puzzled by the sizing. There are 4 sizes which cover UK sizes 6- 28 but I wasn't sure whether to go for a size 1 (12-16) or a size 2 (18-22) since I fall in between them. In the end, I settled on a size 1, worrying that the 2 would be too large. They're a little tight and come up a bit short, despite my tiny T-rex arms, so I'd recommend sizing up if you fall between sizes.

There are all sorts of colours and styles so there's a style for every outfit. I think my Wingz are going to be my new fashion staple!
I must have missed these on Dragon's Den. Great idea though.. I can already see them on a couple of outfits I already have!

Love this idea! My arms are slimming down as I not only do zumba 2x a week but also hula hoop, but I still get the dreaded fear of arm flab, so these would be great for sleeveless dresses and tops!
ReplyDeleteThe Wingz look pretty cool! I'm not very confident wearing sleeveless tops because I have blemishes on my arms and shoulders. With these I could wear them. I've bookmarked the online shop to buy when I get paid next! Awesome! Rachel x
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea! Love your dress!

What a fantastic idea! I always wear my summer dresses in the winter either with a top underneath or a cardi, but I'd love to try these too. thanks for the recommendation. xxx
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of Wingz before but they're such a good idea! And on another note, I absolutely adore your dress! Such a beaut! x

Where we these when I was about 16! I used to wear these half cardigans that could be tied rather than buttons and I would wrap the fabric around me and tie everything at the back haha!
ReplyDeleteI do love sleeves, after years of having to wear them and even now having to wear (or at least feeling like I have to wear) them, I'm always searching for more convenient ones.
This is such a cool idea. I HATE my upper arms: they're flabby and pasty and I have keratosis pilaris (aka chicken skin-type bumps) all over them. Until I got my half-sleeve tattoo I kept them covered at all times, even in summer, but it's made me feel a lot more positive about baring them.
ReplyDeleteThese are such a great idea!! Love the outfit too, that peach is gorgeous!

I love this idea - I was wondering about something like this just a few weeks ago because I've often worn another top underneath when it's been chilly or just settled for a cardigan but this is brilliant! You look lovely too, love the peach colour of the dress. - Tasha
ReplyDeleteWow what a great idea!! I don't hate my arms and it's one thing I am trying not to hate because I love having my arms out sometimes! xx
