Review // NARS Christopher Kane Starscape Blush

If you've followed my blog any time after 2012, you probably won't know that there was a time when I was massively into designer fashion. This blog was all about recreating designer trends on a budget, I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt from Net-a-Porter, had a subscription to Vogue. Then I realised I'd never earn enough money to actually buy all the Meadham Kirchhoff and Moschino that I wanted so I kind of backed away slowly. However, when there are designer collaborations with brands I can actually afford, I'm all over it. Christopher Kane was one of the designers I followed closely back in the day, so I was super excited to hear about his partnership with NARS.

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the range. As I mentioned last week, I'm not much of a lip gloss fan, and I never wear highlighters. Pink blusher, on the other hand, is my thang so I snapped up the Starscape blush sharpish. I only own one other NARS blusher which is, of course, Orgasm and it didn't live up to the hype for me, so I was pretty anxious to find out how Starscape would fare.
PACKAGING
With the exception of the deep pink metallic logo, which I love, the design is almost identical to other NARS blushers. The packaging of NARS blushers is perfect because they're so thin and take up such little space. I can easily slot it into little gaps in my dressing table storage or squeeze it into my make up bag. The black plastic is very secure, with a click-shut lid and mirror.

APPLICATION & APPEARANCE
On the NARS website, Starscape is described as "neon pink", and they're not exaggerating! This is a matte, highly-pigmented, bright pink. I'm all over the too-much-blusher game but even I have to take care with this as it's very easy to apply too much. However, this does mean I only need to use a tiny bit, so it will be ages until I hit pan, and I've found there's very little fallout on application.

LONGEVITY
After I'd applied a little too much, I figured I'd leave it as some of it would wear off before long. Wrong! Two hours later, I caught sight of myself in a public mirror and was a little embarrassed by how bright it still looked! Not only is it super duper highly-pigmented, but it lasts for ages. Very impressive!

After my disappointment with Orgasm, NARS have won me back! I'm really impressed with how little I needed and how long it lasted. Now I just need to master the whole not-applying-too-much thing!

  2. Interesting how you didn't get on with Orgasm much, every else seems to love it. Loving this shade but I think for me it's one I'd keep for a night out by the sounds of it's brightness.

  4. I've not tried any of the Nars blushes yet but this one looks amazing! I can only imagine how pigmented it is! That's a pity that you weren't too keen on Orgasm - it's so hyped up. I think I might get my first Nars blush for my birthday as I've heard so many great things about them x
