Review // NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush

I recently invested in some Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner (keep an eye out for the review in the next couple of weeks) and, as it doesn't come with a brush, I decided to go wild and splash out on the NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush.
NARS #47 Angled Eyeliner Brush Review
The first thing I noticed about this brush is that the handle is really long. Maybe there's some benefit to that for most people but since I'm short-sighted and have to apply make up with my nose about an inch from the mirror, it's not great for me! When I put eyeliner on the left eye, I need to use a compact mirror otherwise I'm leaning too far back and can't actually see what I'm doing.

Despite this frustration, the brush itself is very good. The angle of the bristles makes it really easy to make winged eyeliner even and my gel liner applies smoothly with sharp, defined edges. I prefer quite a thick line so this is perfect as the brush would make it quite difficult to apply a thin, precise one.

Another plus of this brush is that the bristles are very robust. When it arrived, the brush had been pushed right down and the bristles were practically flattened. When I took it out of the box, however, they sprung straight back into shape with no indication of their prior condition.

I definitely think this is the best eyeliner brush I've used. If only the handle was a little shorter, it would have been perfect!

  1. Eyeliner gel applied with a brush is just somewhat terrifying to me, but this brush does look pretty good! It would probably be great for powder on the old eyebrows too, non?

  2. Gel liner and an angled brush are a match made in heaven! I've been using the Bobbi Brown gel liner for a few months now and really like it - it's so long-lasting! I have a basic angled brush that I picked up in a set a few years ago but I definitely wouldn't mind investing in a better quality one for my liner! I haven't tried any of the NARS brushes before.

  3. Love a brush with good bristles; I hate it when a few go out of place from being squished in my makeup bag!

  4. I mostly use gel eyeliners so an angled brush is a must for me. I'm on the page with you though, I'm short sighted too so a longer brush would seriously get in my way! Its such a pain isn't it?

  6. I've never used a gel eyeliner before, but I've got a few friends who prefer the finish and say it's easier to apply so maybe I should have a go! I do need to get some new make-up brushes so this is really handy for me right now. - Tasha
