Thursday
Christmas at Lush Basingstoke
The best time of year is when Lush release their winter collection, am I right? For the third year, I was invited to a Lush store to celebrate the launch but this time, it was one of my closest stores- Basingstoke.
Every Lush store is different and will put on events in their own way. I really liked the way Basingstoke organised it- splitting us into three groups and rotating us around the store so we took it in turns to explore the new bath, shower and body products.
As always, there are some old classics returning such as Snow Fairy and Rose Jam shower gels. I'm chuffed that my favourite Snowman shower jelly is back again too, although I still have a million unused pots because I panic-buy every single year. Other classics have had a little bit of a makeover. So White bath bomb is now decorated with green (much more suited to the apple scent than the previous pink) and Shoot for the Stars has fancy new melts pressed into the bath bomb. To my delight, there are also some returning products after a year away, namely Northern Lights and one of my all-time favourites, Christmas Penguin.
Of course, there is also a bunch of brand new products! I'm super excited to try the Bowie-inspired Snowie bubble bar, who has different coloured eyes in honour of the icon. Then there's the frankly adorable Santasaurus bubble bar and Sleepy body lotion which, by the way, is freaking amazing! If you're a Snow Fairy fan, you'll love the inclusion of a Snow Fairy body conditioner. In fact, even if you're not a Snow Fairy fan, give it a go. I've gone off the candyfloss-scented Christmas staple in the past couple of years (turns out, if you stock up with enough shower gel to last all year, you soon get sick of it) but the body conditioner is a more subtle fragrance.
However, every Christmas collection is tinged with sadness as we say goodbye to some old friends. Bah Humbug was such a brief relationship but unfortunately it was not to be. We've also bid a fond farewell to Yog Nog bath bomb (although the scent is still around in the form of Yog Nog roulade), Holly Golightly and my beloved Hot Toddy shower gel. Oh yeah, and Cinders is gone too but ha good riddance sucker!
Like every other year, I've bought more or less the entire Christmas collection and will be reviewing it all shortly. Unlike previous collections, I decided to save myself the hassle and order most of it online (although I couldn't resist picking up some things in store!) although some bits were out of stock so I'm going to have to wait a bit longer. The suspense is killing me!
A huge thank you to Lush Basingstoke for a wonderful evening! It was lovely meeting both staff and fellow bloggers, and I can't wait to try out the products!

I'm surprised they haven't brought Yog Nog bath bomb back - I worked at LUSH last Christmas and thought it was very popular!
ReplyDeleteVery excited to try out the Snow Fairy body conditioner... although I am wincing at the thought of spending all my money in LUSH... again.
Great post!

I love Lush at Christmastime! :) Really sad to hear there'll be no more Hot Toddy shower gel though!
ReplyDeleteSnow fairy is my absolute favourite, so I can't wait to stock up on that! Everything looks amazing, so excited for the Christmas collection

I was gonna come to this but couldn't in the end, would've been cool to meet you! The collection looks fabulous :)
ReplyDeleteI'm gutted I didn't get to go and see the Halloween and Christmas collections in store this year because I've moved further south and I'm not sure that my local store is big enough to hold events. I'm pleased to see my favourite little Butterbear is back this year though and I'm liking the look of the Sugar Plum Fairy scrub x

I love the excitement of Lush A/W product releases too. I really want to try snow fairy or rose jam shower gel, they are such cult products and definitely worth checking out. Your photos are stunning too, very Christmassy and special. Sounds like your day with Lush was pretty cool. :-) xx

I love the Lush Halloween and Christmas collection. I've easily spent over £100 on bits from the Christmas collection, alone! Haha. x www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x
