OOTD // Marks & Spencer Curve Collection

You can't go wrong with a bit of Marks & Spencer. If you're looking for classics, it can't be beaten, although they also stock some really cute things on the more exuberant side. Now they've stepped up their game with the introduction of their brand new Curve collection- a plus-size range especially designed for sizes 16 to 32.

Embroidered flats: Marks & Spencer

Unlike most other plus size ranges, which tend to be just scaled up versions of the main collection, M&S Curve has been informed by the needs of plus size customers, with considerations such as more room around the bust (especially in shirts to prevent buttons gaping) and no-cling fabrics. There are even dresses designed by plus size bloggers who know exactly what we need to look- and feel- amazing.

Marks and Spencer Plus Size Review

To celebrate the Curve launch, I was given the opportunity to style an outfit based around the collection. I picked this bright yellow wrap-around top as I'm trying to include more yellow in my wardrobe. I've written before about how I didn't wear the colour for ten years due to insecurities, so it feels somewhat empowering and liberating to wear it now. Wrap tops are perfect for my bust and this top is no exception. What I really appreciate about this specific top is that it's stitched at the top where the two sides join so, unlike other wrap garments, it doesn't fall open every time I move. With the wrap feature being the focus, the bottom of the top is kept plain and smooth, meaning it's easy to tuck into trousers or skirts without bunching up. The fabric is lightweight, but thick enough that my bra doesn't show through, and has a stretchy quality, making it extra comfortable. The only- very small- problem I had was that because the fabric is slightly slippery, it has a tendency to ride up over my rounded hips. I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem if I'd tucked the top into my waistband to keep it in place. For reference, I'm wearing a size 18 and it fits perfectly but is still roomy. My bust tends to fluctuate throughout the month so this top is ideal for allowing those changes without affecting the overall look.

Yellow embroidered flat shoes

Since I've worn my skater skirt so often lately, I thought I'd mix it up a bit and team my top with some cropped black trousers like this pair, but I picked up on the yellow with embroidered ballet flats. These shoes are only available in extra wide fit and they are really generous with the sizing- not just the width but also the length. I'd recommend going down a half-size because my feet have a tendency to slip out as I'm walking. Still, they make a real statement and I love how perfectly the yellow shade matches the top.

M&S Curve Plus Size Collection

If you're looking for well-fitting pieces that really work with your body, I fully recommend checking out the Marks & Spencer Curve Collection. It's particularly good for basics and workwear, but there are also great pieces for the weekend. Take a look!
