OOTD // Denim & Gingham with Yours Clothing
We've already established that I pretty much wear dresses, or at least skirts, every single day of my life. I think I own one pair of trousers, one pair of dungarees and that's it in terms of two-legged garments. But sometimes I think maybe it would be nice to experiment a bit more. When Yours Clothing got in touch and asked if I'd like to try out an outfit from their new collection, I saw this as the perfect opportunity.

I think the last time I wore a pair of jeans was 2013, so it was quite a bold step for me to go for these grey skinny jeans. It probably sounds odd to say jeans intimidated me, but when you've gone 5 years without having your legs clamped in denim, it does seem a little scary. Would they be uncomfortable? Would the waistband dig into my waist? Would I even be able to get them over my thighs? Thankfully, the answers to those questions are no, no, and yes!
The denim is fairly soft and quite stretchy, so I had no problem wiggling my legs into them, but they still fit closely for that streamlined silhouette. I was glad to have a roomy waistband as I was going out for a meal after taking these photos! The waistband is much higher than I expected, and I'm not sure if this is just my denim naivety or if it's part of the design. Where I was worried about the waistband digging into my stomach when I sat down, I actually found I had a small amount of loose fabric right on my waist. However, this isn't enough to look silly, and it means I can comfortably tuck in my tops without getting bulky lines showing through. The other consideration is that the legs are quite long, so I tucked up the hems for a cute casual look.
When it came to my gingham shirt, I thought I'd take another risk. I tend to avoid button-up tops because my bust does not allow it, but this looked loose-fitting. I sized up to be on the safe side, and crossed my fingers. When it arrived, I couldn't believe I was finally wearing a shirt completely buttoned up without my bra on show! The shirt is very, very long so I left a few buttons at the bottom undone and tied it up into a knot for this cute casual finish.
This outfit is so different to what I usually wear, but I absolutely love it! While taking these photos, two separate women came up to me to tell me how lovely I looked. That never happens, so I'm letting Yours Clothing take all the credit there!
