Review // Jeffree Star Rose Matter Liquid Lipstick
My wonderful ghoulfriend Sally surprised me with a tube of Jeffree Star's Rose Matter Liquid Lipstick and it was the most fantastic gift! I'd heard great things about his lipsticks (of course, I've also heard lots of not-so-great things about him as a person but for the purposes of this review, I'll focus on the product) so I was super excited to try out my very own tube!
The lipstick is contained in a simple plastic tube with a twist lid, studded with the trademark star motifs. As the tube is completely transparent, it's easy to see how much product you have left, which is definitely something I appreciate in make up packaging. The applicator itself is a soft doe-foot which picks up a fairly large amount of product but allows for precise application.
APPLICATION
As I said above, applicator is shaped so that it is easy to apply a neat, straight line but also curve around the lips, following your natural shape- or creating more of one, if you have bizarrely undefined lips like me! It applies evenly and is instantly opaque, so I don't need to apply more than one layer. Unlike other liquid lipsticks I've tried, it dries super quickly so there's no awkward stickiness while I wait.
Cute face, Becky!
RESULTS & LONGEVITY
Once dry, the finish is pretty matte, which is my preferred look in a lipstick. As the name would suggest, it's a deep rose pink with an almost brown hue. At first, I thought it was perhaps a little too dark for my colouring but it's definitely grown on me and is the perfect pink for the end of the year when bright or pastels shades feel a bit misplaced. I'd heard that the matte finish makes the formula quite drying but I haven't found this at all, although I do still apply a little lipbalm first just to be on the safe side. Over time, I do find it starts to get a bit smudged around the edges but it doesn't fade or wear off. This also makes it a pain to remove as it sticks fast but it's definitely great when you need a colour to last all day!
Rose Matter was the perfect shade for my first forray into Jeffree Star's lipsticks. I'll probably try another colour if I can only decide which one to pick!

To be honest this doesn't look the sort of shade I was expecting based on the packaging but I like it. Although I'm liking liquid lipsticks more and more I do have to be careful applying them due to my complete lack of a lip line in places around my top lip x

The shade looks stunning and the it looks like a great application as well, always a worry with liquid lipsticks.
