Summer Trip Plans: Liverpool

I don't know about you, but it's been over a year since my last holiday and I am desperate to get out on a new adventure! Now that the Government has announced hotels can (hopefully) reopen on 17th May, and with foreign travel guidelines staying uncertain, I've been planning a summer trip to visit my family in Merseyside for my birthday, including a stay at my favourite UK hotel- The Titanic in Liverpool.

Of course this is all subject to travel restrictions and I'm keeping in the back of my mind that things may need to change at the last minute, but if all goes well, this is how I plan to spend my time:

PUB GARDEN FOOTBALL

This summer we finally get to experience the Euros. I'm crossing everything for lovely warm, sunny days so I can chill out in a pub garden with my family, including two new little additions who I have yet to meet properly. I'm going to be summoning the spirit of summer 2018 and it's going to be the best birthday ever, I'm sure!

SAND, SQUIRRELS & SCULPTURE

Last time I was in the area, me and Rich drove over to Crosby beach to see the Anthony Gormley sculptures. Only we didn't do a very good job of planning ahead and completely failed to check the tide. Inevitably, when we arrived the tide was fully in, with waves crashing against the car park barrier. We took some fun photos of me pretending to be the Little Mermaid, with water spraying all around me and hair blowing across my face, but we still haven't had a chance to see the figures. This time we'll definitely plan things a bit better! And no trip to Merseyside's beaches would be complete without popping over to Formby to hang out with the red squirrels!

LUSH LIVERPOOL

I've been working at Lush for almost 2 years now and I still haven't had a chance to visit the Biggest Lush Shop in the Entire World. Lush Liverpool looks so beautiful, and I've heard such a wonderful things about it. I plan to visit the Hair Lab (a colleague had an amazing experience and couldn't recommend it highly enough), and I bought a spa voucher just before lockdown which is crying out to be used. After my massage and my hair treatment, I'm going to give myself some time to buy all the exclusives and just do what Lush workers do best- chat to complete strangers as if they're our best friends. I can't wait!

HOTEL RELAXING

Finally, after all this excitement, I'm going to need some quiet time to relax. My favourite thing about the Titanic Hotel is their swimming pool- it's down in the basement, with exposed brick walls and low mood lighting. They charge a fee to use it but it's absolutely worth it for the relaxing experience. There's a limit on how many people can use it at once, and I've never shared the pool room with more than 4 other people- often I'm completely alone. No fighting for a recliner here! The heated pool leaves the whole room warm and cosy, but you can also hang out in the sauna or steam room if that's not enough. Bobbing around in the water, sitting on the little underwater recliner, standing under the water cascading into the pool, and then heading back up to my gorgeous (huge) room is the absolute perfect way to spend the evening. I absolutely love it!

I'm keeping a close eye on the Government's travel advice and have everything crossed that travelling around the UK will be safe by summer so I can make my plans a reality. If they can, it will be the most exciting trip I've had in many years!
