OOTD // Denim Pinafore with Lovedrobe

Lately I've been trying really hard to push myself a bit when it comes to clothes. As much as I love my skater-skirt-and-t-shirt basics, I've enjoyed experimenting with my style a bit more recently, and trying out shapes and looks I wouldn't usually go for. When Lovedrobe contacted me, I kept this in mind and decided to try this denim pinafore. I loved the cute retro feel, and I had an idea straight away of how I could style it. Luckily for me, the risk absolutely paid off!

Lovedrobe Koko Denim Pinafore Dress

Pinafore: Lovedrobe
Turtleneck: Primark (similar here)
Shoes: Simply Be

For plus size clothing, Lovedrobe are a dream! Not only are their clothes gorgeous, with sizes 16- 32 in stock, but they run a great fat-positive blog which you can read here. But let's go back to the clothes because they really are amazing- lovely trend-led pieces in a huge variety of different styles so there's something for everyone.

Plus size denim pinafore dress

The denim pinafore I chose is from the Koko collection and is available in three colours- dark blue, light blue and black. After a lot of internal debate, I settled on the dark blue but it was a tough decision! When the pinafore arrived, I was immediately impressed with how stretchy the material is. It's still firm as denim should be, but the stretch makes it super comfy and it fits like a dream over my hips! Although it buttons up the front, there's absolutely no gaping which is always a bonus and, speaking of bonuses, there are pockets! One on each hip, big enough to hold my massive iPhone 8+. Perfect!

Retro autumn winter plus size look

Since I was getting this kind of cute 70s vibe from the pinafore, I paired it with a grey jersey turtleneck. I'm not quite used to wearing such a high neckline so it took a bit of getting used to (and the hideously scratchy label was killing me), but I'm really happy with how it looks. Finishing off my look with these pastel pink trainers from Simply Be gave it a casual, more modern look. When I first wore these shoes, they rubbed my little toe really badly, but on this second wear they were absolutely fine.

Cute casual plus size outfit

I'm so glad I decided to try something different with this look. I kept glancing in shop windows as I passed and admiring myself. I think it's important we do that from time to time- if you look cute, own it! Lovedrobe have provided the empowerment to celebrate myself with this dress and I'm absolutely thrilled!
