Review // NARS Christopher Kane Starscape Blush

If you've followed my blog any time after 2012, you probably won't know that there was a time when I was massively into designer fashion. This blog was all about recreating designer trends on a budget, I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs skirt from Net-a-Porter, had a subscription to Vogue. Then I realised I'd never earn enough money to actually buy all the Meadham Kirchhoff and Moschino that I wanted so I kind of backed away slowly. However, when there are designer collaborations with brands I can actually afford, I'm all over it. Christopher Kane was one of the designers I followed closely back in the day, so I was super excited to hear about his partnership with NARS.

To be honest, I was pretty disappointed with the range. As I mentioned last week, I'm not much of a lip gloss fan, and I never wear highlighters. Pink blusher, on the other hand, is my thang so I snapped up the Starscape blush sharpish. I only own one other NARS blusher which is, of course, Orgasm and it didn't live up to the hype for me, so I was pretty anxious to find out how Starscape would fare.

All the mistakes I have made in 5 weeks of driving

I'm not a lucky driver. I passed my test 5 weeks ago and I've had two cars... and both have been proper body-work-needed damaged (Neither incident was my fault but still) As well as being an unlucky driver, I have the unfortunate combination of also not being very good. I know we all make mistakes but I'm pretty sure I am winning the new-driver-mistake-list. Here is a complete, unabridged list of all the mistakes I've made in 37 days:

What's on my dressing table

My dressing table is my pride and joy. I'm the messiest, most cluttered person in the world but the levels of organisation when it comes to my dressing table are on point! I own this dressing table and mirror, but rather than buy the set, I decided to buy them seperately and it took me three years to get round to owning the table, mirror and a stool. I know, I'm an idiot. (Funnily enough, my grandma had an identical table so when she moved out of her flat, she gave it to me which was handy! Now I have two which sounds excessive but the additional storage was very welcome!)

On morbidity

It's bizarre because, although I'm all pink and pastel and girly, I'm absolutely fascinated by death. I can't remember when this fascination began, although I have strong memories of reading my dad's copy of The Fireside Book of Death when I was 8. These interests are things I've mentioned in past posts, such as my visits to cemeteries, taxidermy and reviews of serial killer books

I follow a blog called The Chick and the Dead, written by Carla Valentine, who pretty much has my dream job- she is in the process of restoring the anatomy specimens at Bart's Pathology Museum, which you must visit if you get a chance. It's not open to the public, but they host regular events such as taxidermy workshops and I attended a talk on serial killing by Channel 5's most prolific criminologist David Wilson.

Anyway, waffling aside, Carla's blog is obviously incredibly interesting to me, especially as, try as I might, I just cannot find any similar. What do you do if you can't find what you're looking for? You create it yourself. So with that in mind, I'm hoping to add some death-related posts on here. Maybe a monthly series? I haven't decided yet. I figure I'll use this post to garner interest before getting all morbid on you.

Book Review // A Tree Grows in Brooklyn

This book, guys. Where do I even start with this book? If there was ever a book that changed the way I viewed the world and sculpted my path in life, this would be it. My dear grandma had been telling me all about this book for a good few months before she gave me a copy for Christmas when I was 15, and I absolutely devoured it. For a couple of years now, my Grandma has been begging me to write a review and I've finally done it, although I'm uncertain whether she'll ever read it, unfortunately. To be honest, I put it off because this book means so, so much to me and I was worried I'd either get comments along the lines of "I hated this stupid book", or someone would read it based on my recommendation and hate it. It's so very personal to me that it seems a great risk to through my views out there. I truly believe it is one of the greatest books ever written, and it's a huge shame that it is so grossly overlooked.

Review // MAC Viva Glam Miley Lipglass

I'm going to level with you- I'm not usually one for lip glosses. However, MAC Viva Glam Miley Lipglass was just so pretty and perfect, I couldn't resist! I already owned the Viva Glam Miley Lipstick so it was only fair to reunite the friends, right? You may have seen this product make its first appearance in my SS15 beauty trends post, but it's about time I gave it a proper review (and yes, I'm reusing the photos. I'll also be reusing them when I review the other two products so get used to it!)
