OOTD // Gold Sequin Dress

It wouldn't be the festive season without some sparkle, amiright? I actually bought this dress last Christmas and I've had absolutely no use for it until now. It's made for Christmas parties but since I had none of those to go to, I figured I'd just chuck it on for no specific reason in a look I'm calling: Chubby Disco Pigeon.

The annoying thing about this dress is the fit. It's very fitted around the hip area but hugely baggy on top so, unless I recruit some help in tying the back ribbons very tightly, it just flaps about my top half and I spend most the time trying to stop it slipping off my shoulders. I'm also not massively keen on just how open it is at the back. Not sure my bra strap really adds anything to the look but there we go.  These annoyances are tiny compared to just how magnificent this dress is. The huge sleeves are so much fun to play with, the sparkles catch the light so I'm like a massive golden disco ball and I just feel fabulous. Bonus: If you lose me, just follow the sequins I've dropped behind me like a Eurovision Hansel & Gretel.

Obviously the dress is pretty spectacular on its own so I kept the accessories super simple. These ASOS cashmere tights are my absolute life. They're super opaque, impossible to ladder (although I do keep poking my nails through them, but I just end up with a neat hole rather than it stretching halfway up my thigh) and they fit like a dream. Having said that, I size up because I find tights always come up quite short on me and going up a size gives me that little extra stretch. Luckily I stocked up on a couple of pairs in the sale because they're no longer available. I've been wearing this specific pair for over a year now so I'm hoping they'll restock them. If not, these 200 denier tights look like a possible substitute.

My suede block heels are so versatile that I can pretty much where them anywhere. Or at least I would if I was gifted with the ability to walk in heels higher than one inch. As it stands, I crack them out for special occasions where I'm able to sit down for extended periods of time because I have all the grace of a newborn giraffe on roller skates.
