Review // Lush Daddy-O .Shampoo

I'd stayed clear of Lush Daddy-O Shampoo since the packaging specifically mentions grey and blonde hair which obviously I do not have. However, I absolutely love the scent of violets so eventually decided to give it a go, figuring that while it's great for blonde hair, it's not like brunettes can't use it.

Lush Daddy-O Shampoo Review

PACKAGING

Like many Lush shampoos, Daddy-O is packaged in a recycled plastic bottle. I find the lids are a little bit fiddly with wet hands- I struggle to unclip the lid so instead have to unscrew the whole thing and that gets a bit slippery when I'm in the shower. I also had a problem recently when I arrived in New Orleans to find the entire contents of my washbag were covered in purple violet-scented liquid. Still, at least they smelled nice! Just make sure you check the lid is screwed on really tight before packing.

FRAGRANCE & APPLICATION

As I mentioned, the dominant fragrance is that of violets, but it's more earthy than the sickly-sweet Parma Violet scent. It lingers on the hair afterwards deliciously so that's a big plus for me. The consistency is creamy with a pearlescent finish and it lathers up really nicely so I only need to use a little product on my very long, thick hair.

RESULTS

Because of the lime juice, I've found my hair looks really shiny after use. Somehow, though, it also feels quite dry. I'm not sure how it's possible to look shiny while feeling dry, but there you go. My hair suffers from dryness and frizziness anyway, so this shampoo doesn't really help with that. Of course, I don't benefit from the brightening aspect either so unfortunately I don't get much out of this shampoo, apart from the nice smell. Is that really enough to justify buying it again? I don't think so. From now on, I'll stick to the likes of Big Shampoo.
