I'm still poorly. It sucks. I missed out on the big local display on Saturday so, to appease me, Rich bought some sparklers to play with.
I haven't used a sparkler in years and I was always that child who held it as far away from my body as possible, squealing the whole time. So it's fair to say I was little apprehensive. Turns out, I had nothing to worry about! It was a lot of fun and I soon went crazy with the sparkly goodness!
Much better!
Photographing sparklers always looks so magical!! Especially love that last shot. Seriously, it looks like Disney should have animated it. There ought to be a singing cricket on your shoulder.

Haha singing crickets are my forté!
DeleteThose photographs are great - I use to love sparklers as a child!
ReplyDeleteI love sparklers, I think they are one of my favourite things ever! Unfortunately I don't get to celebrate Guy Fawkes anymore because my dog is terrified of fireworks, so this year I am getting my fix through other blogs. Love these photos, they look magical, and I hope you feel better soon xo
ReplyDeleteIt's just like magic! Cool photos.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness such awesome photos!!! I wish we had something like Guy Fawkes in Australia! How did you manage to take photos like this? I've always wanted to write things with sparklers on NYE and take photos but I have no idea what camera setting to use for this :(
ReplyDeleteI used a slow shutter speed which captures the motion. It also lets more light in so it's really good for using in darkness. Though, the slower the shutter speed, the more blurry photos can go so it's best to use a tripod or prop your camera on something to keep it still.
Deleteoh becky! you did it awesome:) totally loving this!:)

ReplyDeleteYou should do it!
DeleteLove this. I've always wanted to do the sparkler writing thing but have never actually given it a go. MUST TRY SOON. You look fabulous, as always.
ReplyDeleteOoh do it! It's tricky but it's fun trying!
DeleteWhaaa, I've never been able to get a word to work with sparklers. I have tried so many times with long exposure shots haha. I can usually get "Hi" or a demented love heart and that's about it. You had to write it backwards, right? or maybe not? I forget how it works haha

These ones were ridiculously long exposure. Something like 20 seconds, I think. Yeah, you need to write backwards, that's the hardest thing. I always get stuck with the bs and ds.
