A Very Copper Christmas

Earlier this week, I talked about looking for a little Christmas tree- Kevin- for my office. After failing to get one at the Christmas tree farm, we found one in Wilkinsons. Poor thing was very undernourished having sat in a shopping centre for days on end but at least he was cheap and came complete with the perfectly-sized bucket. Since my office is copper and white, it was obviously the only option for my Christmas tree colour scheme.

As I said, the tree came with the bucket but unfortunately it was a fairly ugly red plastic thing. To make it fit in a little more, we coated it in some leftover copper spray paint. Much better! My mini copper baubles are from John Lewis and co-ordinate perfectly.
Copper wrapping paper
Also from John Lewis is the white and copper wrapping paper. It came in a pack of three, included a plain metallic copper design but I thought that might be a bit too much copper (if there's such a thing). Breaking it up with white and adding copper accents such as ribbons, bows and gift tags seemed the better option. Historically, wrapping hasn't exactly been my strong suit but I think I've done ok here!

To finish off the effect, I used some accessories from HomeSense. The fairy lights are so cute and, although a bit big for my tiny tree, they work perfectly to decorate the top of the bucket. Since candles are a must-have around Christmastime, I picked up this geometric candle holder. It will work all year round with pride of place on my office shelves. Finally, this copper mug is ideal for sipping hot chocolate while I'm studying. Of course, being 100% metal, it gets very very hot when a drink is in but it cools down quickly enough. Anyway, it looks cute so what's a few burnt fingers for an Instagrammable drink?

Since we left the big tree until the last moment and inevitably ran out of time, Kevin was my only tree this year but I couldn't be happier with him. Yes, I'm a massive cliché. Deal with it.

With thanks to HomeSense for providing the fairy lights, candle holder and mug.

  4. Oh this is just gorgeous! The copper colour scheme is so warm and comforting, and the tree looks great. So good that you rescued him from the shopping centre too, and the little gingerbread man in the drink is adorable! Hope you had an amazing Christmas lovely. - Tasha
