Review // Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

While you guys have all been out buying, using, and raving about Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, I've clearly been living under a rock as I've only just got round to purchasing some. The hype made me super excited, even more so when I got to the till and the girl serving me would not stop talking about how amazing it was. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to try it!
Review of Garnier Micellar Water
PACKAGING
Although I've photographed the 400ml bottle here, it also comes in a really handy 125ml bottle, which I've bought to keep in my car for emergencies. The plastic of the bottle feels stable so I'm not worried of splits, and the lid seals shut tight.

APPLICATION
If I'm honest, when I first used this, it caught me by surprise because it shoots out of the bottle so fast! I was not prepared and got it everywhere! However, once I'd got over that little shock, I found it applies easily with a cotton pad, with no irritation... unless you get it in the eyes, and then it stings. Don't do that! It's completely unperfumed, so the faint scent is natural and has an almost seasalt hint to it.
Is Garnier Micellar water worth the hype

RESULTS
I don't know what I was expecting exactly but, unfortunately, I didn't get it. To me, this is just like any other cleanser. Less creamy than the ones I'm used to but just a basic cleanser nonetheless. It does remove my make up well (whether or not this is down to the "dirt magnets", I don't know) and it's especially good for eye make up- My Benefit They're Real eyeliner was completely gone with one swipe. However, it does leave a little bit of a sticky residue. Since using the cleansing water, I have noticed my skin is clearer and smoother in general, so that's a plus point but, on the whole, it's a little underwhelming.

Don't get me wrong- I'm always in need of a good cleanser and this is certainly that. It's just that I was expecting so much more.

  1. This Micellar water totally let me down too - yeah the packaging is fit and it left my skin feeling really hydrated .. but also, on the flipside, get it remotely near your eyes and it BURNS and I don't it cleanses particularly well either. There is also more chance of me winning the lottery than me actually getting three hundred uses out of the bottle or whatever it claims... it gushes out, doesn't work particularly well and requires me to use about 3 - 4 cotton wool pads to feel like my face is actually clean. Sorry for my ranting haha I have literally just used this product about 15 minutes ago, so my emotions are pretty raw! xx

  2. Becky, I'm living under a rock too, I've not tried this as I use the L'Oreal one when I use a micellar water.

  3. I use this purely for makeup removal as it's the only thing that really gets all mine off, but I'd never class it as a cleanser and always follow up with something else.

I've heard a lot of people say it comes out too fast but I've never had a problem!

  4. Ahh that's a shame you didn't like it, I love it but then I haven't tried another one to compare it to yet. I do notice that slight sticky residue it leaves afterwards though!

  5. Ah but the selling point is that you can just take your make up off and that's it. No rinsing off or anything. :) x

  9. I think it always sucks when a product is hyped up so much - and then you purchase only to be like "Meh." But I'm glad it works for what you want it to! I haven't picked it up myself - I use the Neutrogena wipes to take my makeup off and then wash my face with one of the 5 face washes I've got after. Routines - ya know?

  10. I've just finished my first bottle of this and I am surprised at how much I like it! I was wary of giving into the hype but it got me! I've already repurchased it.

  11. I can't say I've been amazed by it either, but my skin has never reacted badly after using the cleanser so that's always a plus for me! xD

  12. See I love this! I've got the most sensitive of sensitive skin, everything makes my face dry, flaky or blotchy, even moisturisers. But this doesn't. It's perfect for super sensitive skin xx
