Review // Etta French Violet and Sweetpea Jewellery Candle

I love a good candle, so when Etta French asked me to review one of their luxury jewellery candles, how could I say no? This new UK-based company sells the most beautiful candles in a range of five different fragrances, and each comes with a hidden piece of jewellery encased inside the wax. After much deliberation over which scent I'd most enjoy, I finally settled on Violet & Sweetpea and was over the moon when it arrived. In fact, the lovely folk at Etta French even packed a couple of bonus mini candles but I'll save those for a future review.

PACKAGING

Oh man, this is the prettiest candle! It arrived in a gorgeous lilac box with pretty gold details and hidden messages when opened up. Each fragrance has a different pastel box so they're all super Instagrammable! Inside, the candle is presented in an opaque white glass jar, almost like porcelain, with the brand name and simple, delicate logo printed on the front in gold. The overall effect is incredibly sophisticated and really lives up to the luxury branding. I'll be saving it to use as storage once the candle has all burned up as it will make a really beautiful addition to my dressing table.

FRAGRANCE & LONGEVITY

I chose Violet & Sweetpea as the scent of violets is one of my all-time favourites. With fragrance made from natural essential and fragrance oils, the addition of sweetpea gives a sweeter touch to the powdery violent fragrance and creates a soft, delicate scent that is reminiscent of childhood. It's a little more subtle than some other candles I've tried and the throw doesn't reach too far, so this is perfect if you prefer a gentler home fragrance. My candle is one of the larger 20cl jars and I found the surface wax melted fairly quickly so it's burning very cleanly and evenly. As the wax is entirely natural plant wax, there is no animal products or byproducts and they are cruelty free, too. Etta French promises that these candles will last 45- 50 hours and, although I haven't finished yet, it does look as though mine is on track for this time.
Etta French Candle Review
The only downside of having a candle that burns so long is waiting to find out what my surprise jewellery is! I've seen examples on the site and they all look beautiful so I'm very excited to discover what mine is like!

  1. I've actually never heard of these, but the idea of having jewellery in your candle is so sweet! They wound like they would make the perfect gift for someone. And I have to agree, they do look perfectly instagrammable - I love the white/gold combo!

  2. Ah I love the packaging on this :} Etta French sent me one of their candles too; I chose the Bluebell one [which also smells divine] and I fell for the Pomegranate and Mint fragrance in a big way too, after cracking open the minis! I got the most amazing piece of jewellery in mine, I'm going to have to do a separate blog post about it haha #cantcope
