OOTD // Yellow Lace Bridesmaid
A couple of days ago, I shared my photos from Leona's wedding. Since the focus was on Leona and Liam's day, I figured it would make more sense to create a separate post showing what I wore (didn't stop me including a massive photo of my face though!)
When Leona asked me to be bridesmaid, I agreed on one condition- no yellow. What colour did she put me in? Yellow. Of course I didn't complain much seeing as it was her special day and all. Actually- and I'm loathe to admit this- I really loved the dress! I won't be rushing out to buy yellow clothes for myself but I was surprised by how much I liked it in the end!
The dress is from Lindy Bop, who stock a huge range of gorgeous vintage-inspired plus size dresses, and the pale yellow lace perfectly complemented Leona's daisy flower arrangements. A petticoat underneath helped give the skirt that puffy fifties-esque shape. Let me tell you, it was fun spinning around and watching it flare up!
All five bridesmaids wore the same dress (the maid of honour and flowergirl had different designs, although still yellow) and we were asked to wear black shoes. Actually, that's not quite true. The evening before, when I had arrived in Devon, Leona suddenly realised she'd forgotten to ask me. Luckily I was wearing these black flats from Primark to drive down, so I just slipped them back on the next morning.
My hair was done by a hairdresser friend of one of the other bridesmaids. I didn't have any set ideas about how I wanted my hair and Leona was laid back about it. She suggested maybe a beehive and we let the hairdresser wing it. I was so happy with what she created! I felt super posh and sophisticated, especially when we tucked the sprigs of gypsophilia into the French pleat.
I'd never say this to her face but I've got to admit- Leona did a great job with the choices! Good work, knobhead!

Perfect for a wedding, cant go wrong with a 50s style. I love yellow, I wear it all the time but I find that most people find it a bit scary

here's hoping this is the start of a lindy bop obsession ;) I currently own 3 lindy bop dresses (2 Ophelias and a Cheronda) and i need more!!! the Ophelias in particular are gorgeous to wear.. currently lusting over the Lana range!
ReplyDeleteYou look so lovely! Yellow isn't my favourite colour either, it can be quite unflattering/too eye-catching, but actually pastel yellow is really pretty! I love the design of the dress as well. The beehive was a great idea, it adds to the retro vibe of the outfit! :D
