Winter Empties

Guess who forgot to write a winter empties post? Yep, that would be me! For some reason, I didn't end up with anywhere near as many empty products as I did during the autumn. I guess I just didn't have as many shower gels to use up!
Empty Lush packaging
LUSH CRANBERRY FACE MASK

Not in the photo because I lost the pot
Spoiler alert: I've never finished a Lush face mask. I use them once, maybe twice, then put them in the fridge and completely forget about them until they've lost all their freshness and I need to throw them out. I don't even like cranberries so it's not really a surprise that I didn't finish it. It did make my skin really soft though!

Repurchase? I probably will because I'm an idiot who always buys the complete Lush Christmas range, even if it's something I don't like.

LUSH CUPCAKE FACE MASK

Another face mask that I didn't finish! We watched this face mask being made at the Lush Southampton Valentine's event so it was nice to be able to take a bit home. As there were so many of us, the pot wasn't filled to usual capacity so I only had one more use in the pot when I had to clear it out. This face mask smells divine and I always find it to be really nourishing too.

Repurchase? I'll probably buy it again at some point. And forget to use it again.

LUSH SKIN DRINK MOISTURISER

Don't go thinking it's only face masks I throw away unfinished- I had to throw out a small amount of this moisturiser too. The problem with this was that I bought British Nanny shortly after buying Skin Drink and, as I preferred British Nanny, I completely neglected this one. By the time I'd finished my favourite, Skin Drink was a couple of weeks away from the expiration date. I used it for a few months more, desperate to finish it and figuring that it wasn't mouldy and was hardly going to kill me, until it started making my face come out in red blotches when I applied it. Don't judge me. Nobody died. It's a good light moisturiser with a distinctive nutty fragrance, but I just preferred the richer, creamier products available.

Repurchase? There are too many Lush moisturisers I want to try so I doubt I'll return to this one, especially as it's a little too light for my dry skin.

LUSH FAIRLY TRADED HONEY SHAMPOO

Honestly? I forgot I even had this shampoo. It was lurking around in full view but completely ignored by me until one day I was having a shower and suddenly realised it had been there for a while. Yep, I had to throw some more Lush products out. I promise to never, ever waste another Lush product, ok? I just didn't use it much because I wasn't a fan of the honey fragrance and I found it didn't make my hair feel particularly clean. I got the impression that it would be better for fine hair. Rich used it for a bit but he wasn't a fan either.

Repurchase? Nope. Not a fan!

LA ROCHE-POSAY MICELLAR WATER

Finally onto the products that I actually have finished! I used up my La Roche-Posay micellar water really quickly because, oh yeah, you get the smallest amount of liquid ever in the bottle. It was a lovely product- really cleansing, a gentle fragrance and left my skin feeling smooth and soothed. Unfortunately, it wasn't great value at all.

Repurchase? Nah! There are too many micellar waters out there that do just as good a job for much better value.

BENEFIT POREFESSIONAL PRIMER

Oh, Porefessional! My beloved primer. You have broken my heart. I recently found out that this product is probably the reason behind my incredibly dry skin at the moment so have switched to a more moisturising product. It's just not the same. I wonder if I could double up my primers?

Repurchase? Already have. Before I made the dry skin discovery, of course, so now I have to use it up even if it is killing my face!

Now you all know my shameful secrets about wasted and expired products. I pinky promise there will be none of that in my next empties post... and that I won't forget to publish it next time!

  1. I find the Benefit primer really drying too, such a shame because it works!

  2. I love that you're just like, "I totes forgot to finish this so I had to throw it away" cos that's totally me, haha. I don't often buy Lush products but I bought some a few years ago, forgot about them cos I didn't like them that much anyway and ended up having to chuck them when I'd barely dented the tub! I never get anything finished, regardless. I'm so liberal with shampoo and shower gel, those are probs the only empties I will ever have ahaha.
