Review // Lush Honey Trap Lip Balm

While in Austria, I found the combination of bright sun and mountain air was really drying out my lips. I'd arrived sans-lip balm so, during my day trip to Vienna, I took the opportunity to get a fancy German-language balm from Lush. After sniffing all the possibilities, I settled on Honey Trap (or, as I like to call it Honey von Trapp)

PACKAGING

Lush lip balms come in two forms of packaging- a traditional stick or a small pot. I'm not entirely sure why they sell half their lip balms in one form and half in the other but that's just the way it is. Honey Trap is packaged in the latter- a 12g metal pot with a lid that twists off. The benefit of this is that it's very thin and slots into the smallest space. The downside is that it's fiddly (especially if your hands are wet or sweaty- no judgement, it was 30c in Austria!), you need to use your fingers to apply it and, as I've learned from past potted lip balms from Lush, if they get hot, they melt and form weird little lumps. 
FRAGRANCE & APPLICATION
I'm not usually a fan of honey so this wasn't a product I ever would have chosen had I not been in-store. The initial fragrance is one of mint chocolate and it's incredible! In fact, the honey is barely detectable at all. When applying, the balm feels thick and creamy, and it absorbs perfectly into my lips without sitting on top or feeling greasy. As it sinks in, the mint gives a small tingle which is particularly nice on hot days!
RESULTS
Made with all kinds of moisturising goodies- shea butter, beeswax, almond oil and olive oil- this lip balm is incredibly nourishing. It instantly makes my lips feel not only hydrated but also softer and smoother. This makes it perfect as a base before applying matte lipstick and my lips are much happier since using it!
I'm very glad I picked up this lip balm. I've been keeping it safe in my handbag and applying it throughout the day for soft, minty lips. It's definitely becoming an essential for me.  Bloglovin' // Twitter // Instagram
