2016 Travel Plans

It was when we visited Paris and Berlin last summer that I realised my heart lay in travel blogging. Of course I've always wanted to travel (who doesn't?) and my grandparents instilled a love of culture in me from an early age but, as I got older, real life got in the way. After our European jaunt, I made it a priority to travel as often as possible so we've lined up a good few trips for the next year.

WHITSTABLE

My aforementioned grandparents lived in Whitstable for 5 years or so in the early 00s and my weeks there were some of the happiest of my life. Unfortunately I've only returned once in the 10 years since they moved so I plan to rectify that for my birthday.

MARGATE

While we're in Whitstable, we'll take a day out to visit nearby Margate. The tourist board haven't half done a good job with it because the amount of bloggers who have visited has really convinced me I need to pop down. Plus Tracey Emin is from Margate and I want to visit the Turner Contemporary.

NEWQUAY
Our first holiday, way back in 2009, was to Newquay and we had such a lovely time that we vowed to return... and then never did. With Leona's wedding taking place this summer just over an hour away from Newquay, we figured we'd combine the two and spend a couple of nights in Cornwall after the wedding.

AUSTRIA

I am super excited about this one! The Sound of Music has been one of my favourite films since before I can remember and I've always wanted to visit Salzburg. This spring we're going to stay in the actual mansion used for the Von Trapp's home in the film followed by a train journey over to Vienna to complete our holiday.

PARIS

My love for Paris completely took me by suprise so I was eager to return as soon as possible, especially since there was so much I didn't get to do last time- touring the catacombs, going up the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, visiting Diptyque and Ladurée... We'll be back in the run up to Christmas for a few nights before spending a couple of days in Disneyland for a super festive break.

SECRET LOCATION

After Rich somehow managed to pull off our secret anniversary holiday last year, we've decided to make it an annual tradition, alternating who arranges it. This year it will be my turn and I already know where we're going. Clue: It's in Europe and will be relatively cool for August. Fancy taking a guess?

2016 is definitely going to be an adventurous year and I for one can't wait!

  3. Everyone should travel more! I like how you've included travelling in the UK in this list as so many people don't count that as travelling. It's so important to explore more of where we live!

  12. There are so many places I'd love to visit in Europe. Definitely on my goals for 2017, once I've saved up a bit of money! I am going to guess at Finland or Switzerland for the secret holiday...
