OOTD // Lovedrobe Spotty Dress
I'm looking pretty smart this week, right? If you didn't know I was a work-shirking student, this could almost be a winter office look. Lovedrobe very kindly sent me this cute beige and black dress, and this grey coat is the perfect accompaniment.

If you ask me, you can go wrong with spots or stripes. In fact, I once bonded with a work colleague over our love of spotted clothes. Although polkadots are cute, I tend to prefer a chunkier spot like on
this dress. The blush-beige colour isn't one I've worn before but I think I need to add some more to my wardrobe. It's a really versatile shade, especially with the inclusion of black, and can be worn all year round, although the floaty material of this dress means it needs layers in the colder months. My favourite part is the frill detail on the arms. Super cute and feminine, and adds an interesting element. The midi length isn't something I often wear but I think the light fabric makes it a lot more wearable for me as it stops the look feeling heavy and unbalanced.
As for the fit, it's absolutely perfect around both my waist and bust which is an infrequent occurence. The day I took these photos, I had an optician appointment (this is why I look like I'm crying in these photos!) and a member of staff said she loved my dress. Definitely a winner!
Another thing I love about this dress, which is a complete coincidence but great nonetheless, is how perfectly proportioned the length is compared to my coat. I'd been keeping an eye on this grey skater coat for ages and eventually I couldn't resist anymore. I feel super smart in it and it's suitable for any occassion. When I ordered it, I thought the belt might get a bit annoying but on arrival I discovered that it's got both a hidden button and a magnetic popper to keep the coat closed. Since the belt is decorative rather than functional, it's able to stay in place and not come undone all the time, which is a relief.
I sized up so I could wear knitwear underneath but, to be honest, I probably could have done with it in my usual size as it's pretty roomy. I've got little arms and a high waist anyway but the sleeves are definitely larger than I'd expect and the waist fairly low (although it sits in the correct place when it's fastened so that's no issue). The coat is surprisingly warm and I feel like a princess in it! Unfortunately, when I went to add a link for the post I discovered it's sold out but here is a similar grey belted coat.
To complete my look, I wore a pair of plain ankle boots which always make me feel like I've got my shit together (just me?) and black leggings. Now I just need a job to go to. I might start hanging around offices and pretending I work there.
