OOTD // Alpine skirt

See this skirt? I bought it after my first trip to Salzburg in April because I knew it would be perfect for my Christmas trip. For the whole 8 months, it sat inside it's bright pink packaging behind the sofa waiting for winter. It was only when I went to put it on for the first time when we were in Austria that I realised I hadn't even thought to try it on. Luckily it fit perfectly! Plus size winter outfit
Cardigan: Beyond Retro
Top: Primark (similar here)
Skirt: LindyBop
Tights: ASOS
Shoes: Peacocks (similar here)
This print was available as both a dress and a skirt but I chose the latter as they're easier for me to fit into with my bizarrely proportioned body. It was only available in a size below my usual but I risked it and thankfully it's just right! The waistband fits snugly without digging in and the skirt is the perfect length. I sometimes find that hemlines below the knee can make me look a bit dumpy but this one is ideal. I think it helped that I was wearing my black block heels since they made me look just that little bit taller.

Of course the print is just perfect for Austria with a little snowy mountain scene and Alpine chalets. I love the little splash of red adding a touch of festive spirit which was just calling out to be paired with my vintage Christmas cardigan. Oh and the other thing? Two gigantic pockets! Yes, skirts with pockets 4eva!

Since the print of the skirt and the cardigan are fairly bold, I kept the rest of my outfit simple with a plain black long-sleeved top and these black tights which, by the way, are the best tights in the whole world. I got another three pairs for Christmas because I'm so happy to find a pair of tights which a) fit properly and b) don't ladder, even when I put my nails through them.

We took these photos in the garden of our hotel- Schloss Leopoldskron. I've already written a fair bit about the hotel so I won't go into too much detail now other than to say it's my favourite hotel in the whole world. We only stayed for one night as a treat and spent the rest of our time in a more budget-friendly business hotel in the city centre but it's so nice to have the opportunity to chill out in such a beautiful, serene setting. Especially when it has a library that looks like this.

I think I need to always dress in clothes themed to my destination. LindyBop has a Venice print and I'll be there in the spring...
