Review: Lush Bath Ballistics and Soap

I need to think of ways to name my Lush review posts without resorting to listing every product. They're pretty much becoming a monthly feature. Anyway, I headed over to Reading last week and bought a few more Lush bits. I wanted to try out their Valentine's range but there was really only the one thing I liked the look of.

Love Locket
This is what I wanted to try. Yes, it's £6.95 which is a lot of money for a bath ballistic, but I had to try it out. One of my favourite Lush products ever has been Secret Santa and this promised to be similar, with a mini bath bomb tucked away inside. Unlike Secret Santa, however, this was really easy to open. A sharp tap on the side and it split right down the middle, revealing a heart-shaped bath bomb in the centre.

I tried one of the shell sides first. It's absolutely huge, as you can see below (although I do have ridiculously small hands). It fizzed away really quickly, which seems to be a huge point of contention online, but I don't buy bath ballistics for their fizzing speed so it didn't bother me. As it dissolved, it released little heart-shaped confetti, which is really cute. This didn't dissolve like their other confetti though, so it all got stuck to the bath when I drained the water.

The scent is lovely. Very floral, I think it's jasmine, which made me think of my grandma. It had that powdery, comforting, childhood nostalgia fragrance. In terms of bath water, it wasn't the fuschia that appears on the website but more a pale pink. Again though, I don't buy bath ballistics based on their colour.

I'm not entirely sure if it's worth the cost. Mind you, I don't think I'll buy it again, so I guess that answers the question!

Fizzbanger
I'm very confused by this product. I bought it because I loved the zesty lemon scent but, in actual fact, the Lush site lists it as apple and cinnamon. It just smelled like straight-up lemon to me! Anyway, it was an absolutely lovely scent. Very strong and clean- A little like those citrus scented bathroom wipes, but not as bleachy! The fragrance was so strong that might skin retained the scent after my bath. As well as producing lots of lovely, creamy foam, it also turned my bathwater a bright lime shade. Lovely!

Lord of Misrule

I'm going to start with a warning: If you don't like gore, this is not the bath bomb for you. As it dissolves, it reveals a dark burgundy centre that looks like diseased organs. Seriously, it's disgusting to look at! However, it's full of popping candy which is a lot of fun as it pops and tickles! The spicy fragrance is lovely and warming, with patchouli oil. I think I'll be buying it again!

Rock Star soap
The scent of Rock Star is everything I love from Lush- sweet, candy-scented, bubblegum goodness! It's the same fragrance as Creamy Candy bubble bar and is similar to Snow Fairy, but it's available all year round. Woohoo! It lathers really nicely and left my skin smelling delicious. I did find that it was a little drying though.

Ok, let's take bets: How long until my next Lush review?

  1. I've heard so much good buzz about lush but still haven't tried anything due to the prices but I'm pretty sure you convinced me I need to!

    1. You definitely need to try some! If you start off with just one product, it's not too much and you can see if you like it. I recommend the bubble bars to start with because you get more uses out of them than the bath ballistics.

  2. I'll give it 23 days exactly. ;) They look so lovely but I have to be honest, I bought some about a month ago and still haven't used them. I just don't ever seem to get time just to have a bath, it's quick showers all the way for me. One day soon though...

    1. Haha that sounds about right! I'm definitely a bath person but the downside of that is that I go through my supplies so quickly!

  6. Lord if Misrule is my favourite lush bath bomb EVER. The scent is so different to anything they currently stock, wish it was an all year round product xx

  8. Haha I never thought of Lord of Misrule looking like diseased organs, I had a more 'nice red wine' idea in my head, not sure bathing in it would be the same now!
