Valentine's Day Lunch

Rich and I aren't much for Valentine's Day. I'm not one of those grumpy Hallmark-holiday people, but I don't think it's a big deal. It's just a non-event really. Nevertheless, we decided to head to the local pub for a little meal.

On the way, we passed this building which used to be a council bedsit but was recently abandoned.
The urban explorer in me couldn't help but go and take a peek around. Unfortunately, it was completely sealed up, so there was no hope of sticking my head around. I could peek into the holes of the metal shutters and there was a whole bunch of stuff just left behind.

I love these windows.
There's something really sad about this poor little abandoned toy truck.

There was a tyre swing. WEEEEEE!!!!

Anyway, enough about that: On to the pub! I bagged this awesome armchair and it was insanely comfortable. Plus we got the shiny table. Wooh!

The breaded calamari was delicious! It had garlic butter too. Yum yum yum! I had steak and chips for my main but that wasn't so photogenic.
Apple crumble! I love apple crumble, but I hate custard so I donated my little custard boat to Rich. The crumble had some sort of spice in it- ginger and cinnamon, I think. It was heavenly!

And there we go: That's our highly exciting Valentine's Day treat.

  3. I can't stand custard either. Bleurgh. I always put cinnamon in a crumble so next time I'll try ginger

  4. This looks lovely! We're having our "Valentines" meal tonight (Sunday is date night anyway) and instead opted for a McDonalds on the day itself. We're quite similar in that we're not totally anti Valentines but it's not something we go all out for x
