Review: MAC Please Me Lipstick

Ooh, I do love a good MAC lipstick! When I went to Westfield Stratford City last month, I visited the MAC store as part of my quest to find The Wedding Lipstick. Capitalised because it's going to be a very important lipstick! I know exactly the shade I'm looking for- a slightly coral 60sesque pink- but it's taking me a while to find The One. I sampled a few of the different pinks instore and then stumbled upon Please Me, which I loved the look of because it's a matte.
In the bullet, Please Me looks a dusky rose pink but, on application, it's more of a baby pink than it first appears. It has a very neutral appearance, so it's perfect for an understated daytime look.
As I said, the finish is matte but, as I've found with most MAC mattes, it doesn't have a drying effect and it doesn't do that annoying thing when lipsticks cling to dry patches. However, unlike the other mattes I've tried, the longevity is not fantastic. With eating and drinking, it only lasts a couple of hours before wearing off. Perhaps this is because it's such a neutral shade but, when you consider that remnants of Candy Yum Yum are still on my lips the next morning (and after removal, obviously- I don't sleep with lipstick on!), it's a disappointing contrast.
Although it's a very pretty, subtle shade, and I can see myself reaching for it as a daytime lipstick, I don't think it's The Wedding Lipstick for me. I need something with a little more wow. Back to the drawing board...

  1. It looks really natural on you in that last picture, shame about the lasting time!

  3. Looks like a lovely natural shade, I agree you need to find something a little more special for your wedding though :)
