Rich reviews perfume

In this month's Cosmo, there's a feature in which men are asked to describe different perfumes after blind-testing them. I'm a big perfume collector so I thought it would be fun to get Rich to do this too. I chose six perfumes, from celebrity to designer, and asked him to describe them to me. He's such a bloke, bless him!

Lolita Lempicka- Lolita Lempicka

I say:
This is my favourite winter perfume! It has top notes of licquorice and dries down to a vanilla praline. Such a warm, cosy gourmand. I love it!

Rich says:

"Smells like alcohol... It smells like cheap vodka. Reminds me of an autumn day. I imagine it's probably quite cheap"

Be Delicious- DKNY

I say:
I'm pretty sure everyone remembers the Be Delicious phase of 09. I have to admit that these days, I find it quite sickly and overpowering, although I do still get hankerings for it on breezy summer days. The apple top notes are sharp and strong, contrasting with the smooth amber base notes.

Rich says:

"It's very appley. Probably middle sort of price. It's quite nice. It's very fruity and appley. I think probably this one's my favourite"

Coco Mademoiselle- Chanel

I say:
This was one of my first perfumes and the one I've worn the most. My mum actually has the same one so it reminds me of her. It's a very soft, delicate, feminine fragrance with fruity top notes and a warm, snuggly patchouli drydown.

Rich says:
"[Choking] Again, it smells really alcoholic. Quite nasty and a bit spicy, I suppose. I imagine quite cheap again"

Classique- Jean Paul Gaultier

I say:
Iconic bottle aside, Classique is an autumnal fragrance that can sometimes be a little overpowering on the musk and orange blossom, although I do like it from time to time.

Rich says:

"[Choking, again] Reminds me of sweets. It smells quite cheap, so I imagine it's targeted at a 14 year old girl"

Daisy- Marc Jacobs

I say:
Every blogger has Daisy. Although it's a little oversaturated these days, I still like it: A light, breezy floral that's perfect for early summer. Although it has a lot of fruity notes within it, I mainly notice the musk and jasmine notes in the middle and base.

Rich says:
"It just smells identical to the last one. Again, with the alcohol, the vodka smell. Just an overpowering smell of booze. It smells quite nasty. It smells quite flowery"

Our Moment- One Direction

I say:
A very sweet, girly fruity floral that is perfect for young women on summer days.

He says:

"It smells like CyberCandy. Like I've walked into a CyberCandy shop and been attacked by the sweets. Probably sort of middle price range. Summery. Probably worn by a young teenage girl".

  2. If he's only smelling alcohol you haven't let the fragrance die down long enough. The alcohol evaporates off around 5-15 minutes (depending on the quality of the perfume) so I would expect Coco's alcohol to dry off after 15 mins - 1 Direction after five minutes lol.
My bf loves Coco Noir and Shalimar but I always waft around with it on for a bit first before letting him smell it on my wrist.

  5. You should try it again but leave the alcoholic notes to simmer down a bit!

  8. this is such a good post! i couldn't help but laugh. i do have to admit without knowing that chanel fragrances are chanel, i would too think they are very cheap. however, i love the smells of them! i think it's because they are so potent. but the 1d fragrance looks so adorable!
