Around Bristol and M Shed Museum

After our busy day in Bath, Rich and I recovered in the wonderful Mercure Bristol Holland House Hotel. It was right opposite the beautiful St Mary Redcliffe church, so I couldn't resist crossing the road for a ganders.

On our return, we had a dip in the pool, which we had all to ourselves. It was so much fun splashing around without worrying about annoying other people!

The next morning, Rich and I set off for a day exploring Bristol. We were keen to visit the SS Great Britain but decided to take a slow stroll towards it, taking in the Bristol harbourside on our way.

As we headed towards the ship, we passed the M Shed museum, which has free entry. I couldn't resist popping in.

I really wanted to visit the Wallace and Gromit exhibition but we didn't have a lot of time until the SS Great Britain closed.

It's a very small museum, but it has lots of fun, interactive exhibits dealing with the history of Bristol.

I spotted a red and green barge that looked just like Rosie and Jim's, and annoyed Rich by loudly singing the Rosie and Jim theme tune all the way around the SS Great Britain (which I'll be publishing a separate post on). Then, on the way back along the harbour, I spotted this!

I cannot tell you the delight I felt!

We were pretty peckish by this point, so stopped off in the harbourside Pitcher & Piano for the most delicious hot dog and chips. I'm not sure where our nearest Pitcher & Piano is, but you'd better believe I'm going to find out!
After filling up our tummies, we needed to head somewhere with a road so we could call a taxi to take us to the station. Rich had heard that Bristol Cathedral was worth seeing and, as it was just around the corner, next to a cashpoint and on a road, it seemed like the sensible place to call a cab.

Luckily, there was a taxi rank right next to the cathedral, so we just hopped in and headed towards the station after a very busy, but very lovely, weekend. In 4 days I'd managed to spend a full day at work, 2 days in London, 1 evening visiting my grandma in Hampshire, 1 day in Bath and 1 day in Bristol. I know it doesn't add up, but it happened!
