Nails // Essie Mod Square

Why is this called Mod Square? That's not even a thing. What is a mod square? Why not Mod Squad? There is so much that confuses me about this Essie nail polish but the colour itself is not one. 

I've been meaning to get this shade on my nails for months but, every time I intended to have it, I couldn't find the bottle in the salon, or something else would catch my eye and I'd think "next time". Finally- finally- this time I went for it, even though I did have an unnamed bright pink last time. It's rare for me to have the same colour twice in a row but, while Mod Square was sitting there, I had to take my chance while I still could.
The shade itself is similar to Chastity, although darker and a bit more red- a more grown up version, perhaps. I've realised in linking the post above that out of my past four trips to the salon, I've come out of three with bright pink nails. I think it's time to mix it up a bit!
