Hyde Park Winter Wonderland and Harrods

As I mentioned yesterday, Rich and I went to London for the New Year's Eve fireworks with my brother, Jamie. We decided to make an evening of it and have a little trip to Winter Wonderland first. I've been meaning to go for a couple of years and never got around to it, so it was the perfect opportunity!

First of all, we stopped off in Yo! Sushi for a little dinner. Yum yum!

Anyone for fried octopus balls?

We found these plastic neon animals in Waterloo Station. Giddy up!

After filling up on spicy pepper squid and chicken gyoza, we headed to Harrods so I could buy a new lipstick.

I am obsessed with the architecture in Knightsbridge!

Look how beautiful!

I wish this was my personal lipstick collection!

We got kicked out at closing time, but the staff member shepherding us very kindly let me pose for a photo with my new mate.

Then it was off to Hyde Park! The reflections in The Serpentine looked beautiful.

We are happy elves!

It was essentially a massive (overpriced) fun fair. I was down with that. I love fun fairs!

I would have loved to go on this ride if it wasn't a billion pounds and if Rich and Jamie weren't too chicken!

Instead, we bought tickets to go on a little rollercoaster called Wilde Maus. It was absolutely terrifying and hilarious! Jamie screaming "I DON'T LIKE IT ANYMORE!!" through the whole thing made me cry with laughter!

It's a shame I'm such a coward as I was desperate to go on the haunted mansion ride! It was a huge, animated set up with smoke, animatronic ghosts and a 15ft skeleton playing Danse Macabre (the Jonathan Creek theme tune) on a violin.

Look, fire! I just knew it would make me cry (and not in a good way) so, as much as I wanted to ride it, I had to walk away.

This creepy dude was hanging out outside.

Casually fist-bumping Santa. We're down with the kids!

Yay candy floss in a bucket!

Apres Bar had the best advertisements!

I love really terrible jokes. This had me laughing for ages.

This was a bar on a carousel. It actually rotated. Greatest thing ever!

Jamie and Rich each bought a polystyrene cup of hot chocolate before we headed off, serenaded by the sounds of the old classic Let's Get Ready to Rhumble. I sang along and danced a lot. I'm just awesome like that!

  5. Ooh. I was supposed to go to Winter Wonderland a week before Christmas but on the day there was thunder and lightning so we decided to skip it. Now I get to see what I missed, which is good as I had no idea what to expect! Thanks for putting up all the photos, maybe I'll go next year.

  7. I took my Dutch friend to Winter Wonderland the weekend before Christmas, I'd never been there so in spite of the terrible ripoff prices, we loved it. But the Wilde Maus was something we really wanted to go on but had spent all of our money so we couldn't. Glad to hear it was scary because I'm going back there next year and trying it if it is still there :P
