Review // Urban Decay De-Slick Make Up Setting Spray

We've all heard of the legendary powers of Urban Decay setting sprays, so I was very excited to finally buy one! I settled on De-Slick rather than the more popular All-Nighter, purely because that was the only one available in John Lewis at the time!
The packaging is robust, in a thin white bottle with a grey click lid and a pump spray dispenser. It's the perfect size for popping in your handbag if you want to use it for touch ups throughout the day. According to the instructions, you just mist your made-up face a couple of times in an X and T formation to keep your make up looking perfect all day long.

This application is where I had some problems. Since the dispenser is a pump spray, one press shoots out a spritz of product. It's therefore impossible to mist your face and you just end up with a clump in the place you started. However, the scent is quite pleasant to me. I can't put my finger on what it smells like but it's something sweet, familiar and nostalgic: Maybe violets. It dries quickly and, once dry, blends in with my skin completely seamlessly- there's no stickiness or dryness at all.
As for whether it actually works, I've found that when using it, my make up doesn't slide off, despite the uneven application. The only place where I do have problems is my eye make up and I'm a bit wary of spraying anything on my eyelids!

All in all, it's worth a purchase if you have problems with make up staying put but don't expect miracles!

  1. I've been trying to decide between the two setting sprays but the reviews for All Nighter seemed better. I do suffer from an oily forehead though so De Slick might be a better option!

  3. I haven't tried all nighter but I did buy 'Chill' (for the day) and loved it! I noticed that it worked more now I don't have it haha. It's just a little pricey for a student! xx

  4. I've recently started using Urban Decay's Chill setting spray. I really like it, it keeps my face cool in the morning and really seals my makeup. I really want to try the other sprays out there.

  7. I've been interested in trying this for a while, but my reluctance to part with my cash is the very reason you mention - the thought of a big jet of product spraying out, instead of a fine mist! I do love Urban Decay though xo

  8. I enjoy the thought of you reacting to things spraying at your face.

Seriously though I've never heard of the legendary powers of Urban Decay setting sprays. This just sounds exactly like the whole "spray hairspray on your face to make your make up stay" which just sounds very silly to me... Xx

  10. I've always been interested in trying this as i've got oily skin so my makeup does wear off a bit throughout the day, I recently brought a cheaper Avon one to try as a cheaper alternative.
