You may have heard of the Chisolm Hunter Celebration of Friendship campaign, in which bloggers share their stories of blogging friendship (you may even notice a little mention of me on that link!). I bet you can't guess who I'm going to write about...
Back in April 2012, just 4 months after I began my blog, I noticed a tweet from a fellow blogger about Edward Scissorhands. As I'm terrified of the man, I felt compelled to reply and tell her how scared I was. and so began a beautiful friendship.
At first we just chatted on Twitter and commented on each other's blogs but a year later, in March 2013, I received an email from Leona (that's who it was, by the way, in case you hadn't worked it out!). She'd just started reading Harry Potter, was desperate to talk about the books with somebody, but didn't know anybody who was a big enough fan to get excited. So she did what anybody else would do and contacted the biggest fan she knew.
Over the next few days, we exchanged emails back and forth, swapped addresses to become pen pals (I'm still waiting for my letter, Leona) and exchanged phone numbers. We'd already claimed Best Friends status but, after a couple of weeks we couldn't put it off any longer: We had to meet up in person.
As Leona lives in Devon, and I live in Hampshire, we agreed to meet in Bristol, which is roughly halfway. I was absolutely terrified. What do we do when we meet? Do we hug? Awkward cool guy handshake? What if we have nothing to say to each other?
Luckily, everything went brilliantly. We ate Nando's, went to see the dinosaurs in the museum, and talked about Harry Potter in Costa. By the end of the day, we had agreed to a second date.
Over the next year, we put up Christmas trees together, filmed videos together and even got piercings together. When I got married in August 2014, Leona was one of my three bridesmaids.
It's crazy to me to think that, if it hadn't been for our blogs, we never would have met each other. I feel very, very luck to have Leona in my life. I love you, boo.
Huge thanks to Chisolm Hunter for sending this friendship box. Not only does it smell amazing, due to the bath bomb, but it also includes magnetic pegs (perfect for my new office), wildflower seeds and a gorgeous Armani bracelet. Even better, they're offering a £250 gift card to one lucky winner. You can enter the competition right here.
AWWW this is so sweet! It's so much fun to see the relationship that you share between your two blogs :) I love reading both of them and it's so neat that this was how you guys met! I think I'd be terrified the first time I'd go to meet another blogger...(I have yet to meet anyone I've met online in-person)...but who knows, maybe if I'm ever over in the UK I'll try to meet up with the two of you!

I was absolutely terrified meeting her for the first time! If you ever do get to the UK, let us know! :)
DeleteUm... this post is about our friendship and I share half of that friendship so I should be sharing half of this box with you, yeah? Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI fucking love you to the moon and back. If you hadn't have already got married then I would marry you in a heartbeat because you're so damn awesome!
Xx
Yeah you can have half the bath bomb, 1.5 of the pegs and a few seeds? Wish I'd met you before Rich so I could have married you instead!
DeleteThis post is so lovely Becky! It's amazing that blogging can create such bonds between individuals and can flourish friendships. I am hoping to meet some more of my blogging friends this year which is über exciting!

Thank you! It's wonderful how blogging can bring people together.
DeleteSuch a lovely story! I always think that you seem to meet your bestest friends when you least expect to! I met my best friend because I was obsessed with fairies and anime and she owned a fairy shop with a manga fairy in the window! We are now so close and have a real 'mutual appreciation society' for one another and think each other is amazing at everything! I often think that we'd get along if we met in real life judging by your kooky personality that comes across in your blog!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this! What a lovely story about how you met your best friend!
DeleteThis is such a lovely story, you two are so sweet! : ) x
