Review: MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick

I adore MAC lipsticks. I know that's a horrible cliché for bloggers but I really do. As far as I'm concerned, they are the best on the market (although Topshop lipsticks are very good too and half the price. There's a rumour that they're made by the same people but I can't find any evidence of this. Let me know if you find any!)
Anyway, the point of this is: If I'm ever looking for a specific shade, I look to MAC. This week, I watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and fell in love with the shade of Truly Scrumptious' lips. Then Mary Poppins was on with Julie Andrews wearing a similar shade, and I knew I had to have one! After turning to Twitter for some guidance, I eventually settled on Vegas Volt and picked up a tube when we went to Harrods

As with all MAC lipsticks, it's in a hard-wearing plastic bullet with a secure lid and twist-up applicator. The shade is a very pretty, bright coral although it looks more brick red in the tube. It's part of the Amplified line, so the colour is really pigmented and it's got a slight sheen to it. The consistency is creamy and it felt almost glossy on my lips, although it doesn't have a gloss finish.
Unfortunately, it doesn't last very long. The brightness of the shade quickly fades and it does that annoying thing where it fades from the inside out, so I ended up with a coral line around the edge of my lips. 3 hours after applying, it was all but gone from the centre of my lips.

It's a real shame as it's such a pretty colour but I guess I'll just have to reapply more often. The shade is just too nice to write off completely.

  1. I love this shade so much it's ridiculous, and it's probably the most flattering one on everyone as well I think. Xx

  3. Oooh, this looks lovely! I've been wanting a coral MAC lipstick for ages and this might be the one, provided it doesn't pull too orange x

  4. That shade is gorgeous!! I've only ever tried one MAC lipstick - Angel - and I really wasn't a fan. The frosted finish looked horrible on me, so I've been turned off ever since. Maybe I should give them another try?

  5. It looks fab, but shame about the wear. Do you put chapstick on underneath? That usually helps me
