E is for England
This would be United Kingdom if I didn't already have a U planned (Yeah, I bet it took you all of two seconds to guess what it is!).
I am the most patriotic person I know. I always feel the need to specify that I am not a Nationalist. I do not support the BNP in any way but, unfortunately, people tend to think you must do if you are openly patriotic. In fact, I think one of the best things about this country is the vibrant multiculturalism.
Anyway, so much of my identity revolves around the fact that I am English. I am insanely proud of it and I will defend England until my dying day. Nothing makes me swell with pride more than a rousing verse of God Save the Queen with thousands of people singing along (Yes, I totally cried during the Diamond Jubilee!).

In fact, when I went to Madrid, I took a massive Union Jack just so people would know we were British. How attractive (and pasty) do I look here?
I love red + blue. So darling!

I think being proud of your country is a great thing. I love being Scottish, it's great, but that doesn't mean I dislike English people (heck, my mum is English), or even that I am particularly keen on Scottish independence (I'm not). I love the country I grew up in, but that doesn't mean I dislike any other countries, and I'm more than happy for anyone to join me in mine.
ReplyDeleteGreat post xo
I'd love to go to Scotland! I've never been but it's definitely something that's on my to-do list.

ReplyDeleteI MUST HAVE THOSE SHOES! where did you get them?
Thank you! They're from QS which is an odd little shop here. I don't even think it's very well known in England. It basically sells surplus goods from other stores so it's quite hit and miss as to whether you'll find anything decent. I usually manage to pick up some great things there though.
DeleteI love your umprella so much! Very lovely:)

Yay national pride! I'm not English, but I probably would be very "English" if I was. I have London and roses all over my walls and attempt to speak like the Queen. Such a cool country!
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is lovely btw!
