Sunday

15th July 2012

This week has been Airshow Week. My hometown is also home to a biennial (not to be confused with biannual) international airshow. We actually get free tickets as we live within a few hundred metres of the airfield but the process was kind of confusing so we missed out. Oh well, next time.

It turns out that we get a really good view of the planes from our bedroom window and the planes fly within feet of us. This means that I have spent most of my Sunday like this:

Let me tell you, that is not comfortable. My calves have had more of a workout than they have ever had in their lives, I think.

Unfortunately, our window faces away from the airfield. The planes are loud. Really loud. It's a loudness that completely surrounds you so you have no idea which direction the planes are coming in and, besides, they fly so fast that if they sound really close, you've probably already missed them.

Luckily for me, I had this guy hanging out of the window opposite filming the planes so I was always prepared with my camera pointing in the right direction when they came swooping over the rooftop.

I don't know a lot about planes so I am mostly relying on the flight schedule and Google images to get the names of these planes. If I get one wrong, I apologise.

    1. I got it from Topshop. I had to have it the moment I saw it! It took me ages to work out what you meant then because we call sweaters jumpers. I was sitting here thinking "...but I'm not wearing a jumper!".
