101 in 1001 XVI

Ok, so it turns out, March was a pretty non-eventful month in terms of my goals, until the last week when I managed to tick off a couple of things. However, I do have a couple of things already planned for April and May so the next couple of months should show some more progress towards my 101 in 1001 goals

#13 Meet a blogger

I got to meet the very lovely Laura of Cherry Soda at the Pixar PJ Party.

#43 Buy a collection of art books

At the Vogue Festival, I bought this Grayson Perry in hopes (unrealised) of getting it signed. I was also given this Taxidermy book by Rich for Christmas and kept forgetting to include it here.

#83 Attend the Vogue Festival

This year I got to hear Grayson Perry at the Vogue Festival and, as expected, he was fascinating to listen to!

#96 Read 75 books

Only 3 books this month. I really need to get a move on. According to Goodreads, I'm 3 books behind schedule if I want to meet my 50 book goal of 2014.

#101 Watch all the films
I watched Dreamgirls for the first time this month and I can't believe I hadn't seen it before! Jennifer Hudson's And I'm Telling You scene is incredible!

Rich recommended Four Lions. It might be a little controversial as it's a comedy about Jihadists but it somehow really works without being offensive.

  1. I loved Four Lions - the majority of filming was done in Sheffield (where I lived up until quite recently) so the best part for me was recognising all the locations! Good luck with your reading - I'm trying to get through a book a week in 2014 (currently slightly ahead of schedule despite taking almost a month to read Love in the Time of Cholera!), so I know how hard it can be to find the time! xx

    1. That's really interesting! Congratulations on being ahead of schedule with your reading. I'm hoping to catch up over the Easter holidays!

  2. It's definitely a controversial concept but I was surprised by how hilarious it was!

  3. Ahaha I really liked Four Lions! I wish I'd been able to go to the Vogue Festival. Well done for working towards your goals :) xo

  4. I love Four Lions, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. The 'twelve bottles of bleach' scene is my favourite part. Just out of interest, how many films are you hoping to have watched by the end of the 1001 days?

    1. "Why is she covering her face?"
      "Because she has a beard"

I haven't set a target number of films. Just as many as I can really.

    2. I also like Waj's "Help me, Omar! I think I might be confused, but I'm not sure!" selfie saga, even though the very end of that scene is actually really sad.

    3. Oh, and if you'd like a laugh, there's a Twitter account called Crap Taxidermy (I just noticed one of the art books while checking back on this post). It's horrific, but it's hilarious at the same time.
