The Prince Charles Cinema in London is one of my favourite places to visit in the capital. I'm not much of a film person really. I get restless having to sit still and do nothing but watch a screen for two hours but, despite this, I love the PCC. It shows classic films and has special events such as the Muppets Christmas Carol Singalong and Wayne's World Schwingalong. In fact, I love it so much that I've bought an annual membership and what better way to use it than spend an entire night watching Pixar films back to back?
I met up with Laura from Cherry Soda at the cinema and, because I'm an idiot who can't read 24 hour time, we got there an hour and a half early. This turned out to be for the best though, as neither of us had eaten so we headed around the corner for my first visit to Five Guys.
Although there was a massive queue stretching around the outside the restaurant, it only took us about 10 minutes to get to the tills. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and chips. I was very glad to discover that you request toppings at the till so I didn't have to pick out any tomatoes or onions. Woohoo!
The fries were delicious, and they had a sign at the door saying that the potatoes that day were from Holland. They tasted really fresh and potato-y. Yes, that is a valid adjective!
Mmmm burger heaven! The burger was delicious, but the best thing about it was the amazingly soft bun. None of this carboard texture that you find in other restaurants. Yum yum yum!
After filling up (and then some!), we headed back to the cinema. They opened up late, so we had to stand around in the boiling hot, jampacked foyer for about 45 minutes which was absolutely horrible but when we finally got in, we managed to bag some great seats. I managed to watch Toy Story, A Bug's Life and Monsters, Inc before falling asleep through most of Finding Nemo.
The screening was popular but not sold out, so I commandeered four chairs and lifted up their arm rests to make a bed. It was so comfy! The chairs are squishy leather and fairly deep, so I didn't feel like I was falling off at any point. I slept all through The Incredibles and Wall-E then woke up to watch Up, meaning I had a pretty decent 6 hours' sleep.
We felt very proud of ourselves to still be there at 9:30 in the morning and eagerly ran up to the front to be a part of the survivors' photo.
When I got to Waterloo, I had a little bit of time to spare so I popped into the Foyles there. It's the most beautiful bookshop I've ever been in. Look at this lampshade! I definitely need one for my house!
Look at all this Murakami! Are you proud of me for not buying anything?
On the train, I lived like it was 2005 with My Chemical Romance and Kerrang!
I think the sleep did me well- I look pretty perky for someone who spent the night in a cinema!
I'm so sad I wasn't able to make this, it sounds like so much fun and I loooovveeee Pixar!

Hopefully they'll do another one and some more people will be able to make it!
DeleteThat lampshade is brilliant! I love Foyles, haven't been to the Waterloo one but the big one on Charing Cross Road is like book heaven - literally miles and miles of them...
ReplyDeleteOooh I must go to that one!
DeleteI wish I could have come along to this, it sounds like a lovely evening! Also, really want to try Five Guys - it looks amazing, and finally I won't have to pick tomato off my burger!
ReplyDeleteThe tomato picking is the worst thing ever!
DeleteThat sounds like a fun night. Must have been quite surreal waking up in a cinema though.
ReplyDeleteIt was so strange but I slept so well!
DeleteI am so sad about not being able to watch Pixar films with you :( X
ReplyDeleteThey might be doing a classic Disney one!
DeleteAwesome event! I love staying up all night, although it's definitely not as easy as it was when I was younger ;)
ReplyDeleteOh them chips look to good!!
I only managed until 2am and then slept right through to 8 haha!
DeleteThem chips was proper good!
Oh my gosh...this looks like the most fun ever! The burger looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I am very glad that I missed UP; watched the first 20 minutes at my boyfriend's house and started bawling hysterically and THEN his mum walked in. It was highly embarrassing, and I have been traumatized by it since.

The burger was delicious. Don't get me started on the beginning of Up! It's SO upsetting! Ha! UP-setting. (Yeah, ok, that was lame!)
DeleteWow, amazing! I want a burger now...
